Amigo Riptide

The Amigo Riptide is a sub ohm tank aimed at providing quality performance to flavour and cloud chasers, and it’s also designed for high wattage use, with Itsuwa, the manufacturer, rating the tank for use at up to 100W with the 0.3ohm BVC coil. The coils are also cross compatible with the Aspire Atlantis, meaning you can use Aspire Atlantis coils with the Amigo Riptide and vice versa!

The Amigo Riptide tank utilises organic cotton wicking alongside bottom vertical coil heads (BVC) heads to maintain quality flavour and vapour production throughout the life of the coil. The interior organic cotton that surrounds the coil is covered by TURBO-FLOW technology that incorporates a nickel mesh that turbo-wicks the liquid to the coil to prevent dry hits and improve the liquid and flavor delivery. The Riptide also incorporates dual cyclops style airflow with an adjustment stub so that you don't keep spinning your airflow control while trying to replace your coil. The Amigo Riptide also features an adjustable 510 pin and has a 4ml capacity pyrex glass tank to fill with your favourite juices.

It all sounds good on paper, so let's have a look at the Riptide!

Looks and Build Quality

The Amigo Riptide is a well constructed tank made from Stainless Steel and a Pyrex glass tank section, though saying that it does feel quite light in hand. Be careful not to break that tank section, as there is no spare included in the box! At the top of the tank are a couple of heat fins to disperse heat along with a wide bore drip tip for maximum vapour inhalation.

At the base of the tank you'll find dual cyclops adjustable airflow, as well as an adjustable 510 connection. There's a tool included with the kit that allows you to adjust the 510 if need be, mainly if you intend on using this atomizer with a mod that has a fixed 510 connection, but with it being 22mm width you'll find it fits nicely with most of the popular devices today. You can fully strip the Amigo Riptide down for cleaning and is also cross compatible with Atlantis coils. Capacity stands at 4ml and the Amigo Riptide is a bottom fill tank.

It's a good looking tank, I'm a fan of the looks of the Amigo Riptide, it's a pretty sleek and clean looking tank.

There’s a dual cyclops style airflow with an adjustment stub so that you don't keep spinning your airflow control while trying to replace your coil, and there are plenty of airflow options available with the adjustable airflow control ring. If you want the airflow closed down and the vape warmed up, or the airflow wide open for a cooler vape and big clouds, it’s easy to adjust the airflow to your desired setting.

There are two different coils included with the Amigo Riptide, a 0.5ohm coil and a 0.3ohm coil. Starting off with looking at the performance of the 0.5ohm coil, which is rated for 15-50w by the manufacturer, although I don’t think it offers much until you get up to 35w. At 35w, you get a nice flavoursome vape with pretty decent cloud production, but things really start kicking into gear at 40w with this coil. The vape gets warmer and noticeably more flavourful, with  very thick clouds of vapour. At 45-50w I believe the 0.5ohm coil performs best. I got excellent flavour results and some huge vapour production, which will satisfy both flavour and cloud chasers alike!

The 0.3ohm coil is the one you want if it is clouds you are chasing. The flavour is very good with this coil, although I don't think it's on par with the 0.5ohm coil head, but where this coil excels is at big vapour production. It's rated for use at up to 100w, personally I don't believe it is worth using at under 60w, and I found it performed best at 70-80w for me. Above this, the vape does get very hot indeed and I couldn't sustain it for long periods of time.

The Electronic Cigarette Company

The Amigo Riptide is a hell of a thirsty tank, which I believe is due in part to the superb wicking abilities of this tank feeding juice to the coil and wick much quicker than many other sub ohm tanks, and this also has handled any mix ratio of juice that I have used, right up to thick 100% VG Ripe Vapes Coconut Thai. It’s bottom filled, rather than top filled like many of the latest sub ohm tanks, which is worth bearing in mind when using the Amigo Riptide.

The Amigo Riptide is one of those under the radar sub ohm tanks, a hidden gem if you will, that doesn’t quite have the same publicity as some of the more well known sub ohm tanks, but it is a hell of a sub ohm tank capable of performing just as well as anything else out there. There’s a load of airflow there and the Amigo Riptide can sustain high wattage very well, and as a bonus the coils are cross compatible with the Aspire Atlantis 2.

The flavour and wicking ability of this tank is truly exceptional and I believe that is down in part to the mesh surrounding the cotton wick which makes for fast wicking and therefore increased flavour performance, this really does have to be one of the most flavourful sub ohm tanks available to date, and all in all this is one incredible performer available for under £20!
