Introduction to the Aspire Triton 2

The Aspire Triton was loved and maligned by users alike yet regardless of people's opinion on it, the Aspire Triton still sold extremely well. Aspire are company that are always looking to evolve their product line, so it comes as no surprise that the release of version 2 of the Aspire Triton tank has come around so quickly especially as the original version only hit UK shores in the summer.

Aspire have listened to the feedback on the original Triton tank and come up with the Aspire Triton 2 - a totally revamped version of the Aspire Triton tank. As with the original Aspire Triton, Aspire are looking to cater to both the mouth to lung as well as the lung inhaler, and come up with a product that caters to all sections of the market. There’s now a wealth of coils available for the Aspire Triton 2 as well as a separate RBA deck, and some of the great features present on the original Aspire Triton tank have been ported over to the Triton 2, such as the cyclops airflow and top filling slot.

Have Aspire scored a hit with the Triton 2?

Specs

  • 3ml Capacity Tank
  • Stainless Steel Construction
  • Pyrex Glass
  • Top Filling
  • Sub Ohm Capable
  • Suitable for both Direct Lung Inhale and Mouth to Lung Inhale
  • Can be fully disassembled for cleaning
  • Dual Adjustable Cyclops Airflow
  • RBA coil available separately

  • 1.8ohm coil included for mouth to lung vaping
  • Stainless Steel and Pyrex Glass construction

What's in the box?

The packaging remains much the same as it was with the original Aspire Triton, and pretty much any Aspire tank to date. The only differences are what's inside the packaging itself:

  • 1x Aspire Triton 2 with pre installed 0.5ohm Clapton coil for lung inhaling
  • 1x 1.8ohm Aspire Coil for mouth to lung vaping
  • 1x Replacement glass tank section
  • 1x warranty card

Owners of the original Triton tank will notice that instead of the sub par 0.4ohm coil that was pre installed with the original Triton, you now have a 0.5ohm Clapton coil head pre installed. And, as the Triton 2 can be fully disassembled, there is now a replacement glass tank section included which means that if you manage to break the Pyrex section you don’t have to go out and buy a whole new tank. Also you can use the Triton RBA with this tank if you prefer building your own coils.

Aspire Triton 2 Looks and Capacity

Now the dreaded caged stainless steel design present with the original Triton tank is a distant memory. Version 2 can now be fully disassembled for cleaning, so no more juice getting trapped inside, and the Pyrex glass can be replaced should you break it, the inability to do so with the original was a huge bugbear for many. There's even a spare Pyrex glass section included in the retail box! It's still manufactured as a whole from stainless steel with the Pyrex glass section, but it's much more user friendly this time around. You can also still swap coils in and out without needing to empty your tank first, and the capacity is 3ml. Width is a strange 22.5mm, which suits the Aspire Pegasus perfectly, however there is the most minute gap on 22mm width mods.

At the top of the tank you will notice that the adjustable airflow on the drip tip base has gone, and been replaced with a heat sink. This works incredibly well to keep your vape nice and cool, plus you can still remove the drip tip and use your own preferred one. Handy if stainless steel is not your thing! At the base 510 threading is found.

Also at the top is the excellent top fill system. You need to set the juice flow control to the 'drip' icon before filling as this will close off the juice flow to prevent leaks and also expose the filling ports, then grip the heat sink by the base and twist it off, which reveals the fill ports. Once filled screw the top cap back on and ensure juice flow control is set to the vaping icon, unless you enjoy dry hits...

Aspire Triton 2 Airflow

The excellent cyclops airflow that was present on the original has been ported over onto the Triton 2, this was one of the few aspects on the original that didn't need fixing! Essentially there is a 12x1mm airflow slit on either side of the tank, that is finely adjustable with the smooth AFC ring. You can adjust it to suit your own needs- wide open you can chase clouds, closed down you can mouth to lung inhale for flavour chasing.

The AFC ring itself is buttery smooth and I can't fault it, it stays in place where I want it to be and is easy to adjust.

Aspire Triton 2 Performance

The Aspire Triton 2 comes with an 0.5ohm Aspire Clapton coil pre installed, and this has to be one of, if not the, best coils Aspire have ever produced. The flavour from this is absolutely phenomenal! It's recommended for use in the 40-45W range and I've found my sweet spot with this at 42W. In conjunction with the Aspire Triton 2 tank it has wicked any juice ratio I have thrown at it, and provided me with brilliant flavour every step of the way. Clouds are pretty damn impressive with this coil too, knocking a lot of the competing 'higher power' coils off of their lofty perch. As you would expect it's pretty thirsty though, so expect to go through a good few tanks worth of juice a day using this. If there is one complaint about this coil is that the lifespan wasn't particularly great for me, I only got a week out of this before it needed replacing, however I was using a minimum of 60VG juice, mostly thick 80VG, which will shorten coil lifespan considerably with any tank.

The spare coil included with the retail box is the Aspire 1.8ohm coil, and this is designed for those that mouth to lung vape. In the high power race mouth to lung vapers were in danger of becoming left behind when it came to new clearomiser releases. Not so here - the 1.8ohm coil happily caters for the mouth to lung vaper offering them a viable clearomiser option. It's great to see as I myself still mouth to lung as well as lung inhale, and the Triton 2 offers a fully fledged mouth to lung option rather than having this added in as an afterthought. By using this coil and closing the airflow down under half open you can achieve an excellent, flavourful mouth to lung vape, my favourite setting for flavour being found at 12W. It also produces a respectable amount of vapour and can also wick high VG juice just as well as when using the Clapton coil, so if you have a PG intolerance this is perfect. Aspire set a high standard for clearomisers aimed at mouth to lung vapers with the Nautilus Mini, but they may well have finally outdone themselves here with the Triton 2.

Conclusion

I’ve got to take my hat off to Aspire here, I wasn’t a fan of the original Triton tank but the Triton 2 is a whole different beast, and has banished the bad memories of the original Triton tank to history. It's almost a wholly revamped tank that is much better in every aspect, and one that can lay claim to being one of the best options around when it comes to sub ohm tanks. It's a great example of a manufacturer listening to customer feedback and catering to their needs.

A special mention has to go to the outstanding Aspire Clapton coil included in the package, as this really does provide a truly excellent, flavourful vape without needing to be run at stupidly high watts with some really impressive vapour volume. And also top marks for now ensuring that the Triton can be fully disassembled, so it can be fully cleaned and also the Pyrex glass can be easily replaced.

I think Aspire have hit the nail on the head with the Triton 2. An excellent sub ohm clearomiser that offers something for everyone, with great results no matter if you mouth to lung or straight up lung hit!
