One of the most popular manufacturers of recent times has been Vandy Vape, thanks to the success they have enjoyed with products such as the Pulse BF RDA and the Kylin. Vandy Vape are also now taking a run at the popular squonking market, linking up again with YouTube reviewer Tony B to develop a very affordable mechanical squonking mod in the Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod!

The Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod is a mechanical squonker that is compatible with both 18650 and 20700 batteries. It's been designed as a squonker that is open to everyone, with a host of different coloured options available, alongside a range of widely available accessories such as different coloured panels and bottles. What’s in the box?

Inside the box you get the Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod itself, an 18650 battery adaptor, spares bag and a user manual.

Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod Design and Build Quality

I must say that right out of the box I really loved the weight and feel of this mod, it measures in at 77mm x 50mm x 27mm, making it a touch larger than many of the single 18650 3D printed mechanical squonkers I have used, it feels light in hand with a weight of only 170g and is very comfortable to hold and use in my hand. It is a pocketable mod that I can comfortably carry around with me all day.

Looks wise, I feel that the Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod is a great looker, it's manufactured from nylon and high temperature resistant ABS and also comes with a range of different coloured panel options, with different coloured panels available to purchase separately if you wish to change up the looks a little. There are even companies already offering wraps for you to customise your Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod even further! The logos on the panels have been tastefully done, you'll find the Pulse logo on the front panel and the Tony B logo on the rear. Panels are held on with strong magnets, yet the panels are easy to take off, meaning you can access the holes in the rear to easily remove your battery and bottle.

The Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod features a spring loaded 510 connector, and it will happily accept bottom fed compatible RDA's up to 26mm in width without any gaps or overhang. An 8ml food grade silicone supersoft bottle is included, with different coloured options available, and this is very easy to squeeze to feed juice up to your atty, the threads on the cap of the bottle are very smooth as well making it a breeze to refill.

Performance

Copper contacts are used on the battery negative and positive, and there is a direct connection from the switch to the 510 connector to ensure there is maximum conductivity and minimal voltage loss. A Peek insulator is present on the 510, to reduce heat transfer, Peek insulators are amongst the most popular within the industry due to their effectiveness.

The spring loaded fire button is a pretty hefty one, definitely the largest I have used on a mechanical squonking mod to date, it has a pretty long throw on it but feels responsive and easy to press. I haven't run into any issues with the switch yet, it's fired perfectly every time I have pressed it. The locking function is a nice one to have, as you can simply flick the locking switch upwards to break the connection and prevent any misfires. I would still highly recommend removing your battery from this and any other mechanical mod when not in use however!

In terms of performance, I had absolutely no issues with the Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod during the past couple of weeks that I have used it, I've got a great vape from it at all times and found that it hits very well indeed. It actually hits better than I expected it to, and I never once found that I got a weak or disappointing vape from it. I've been using RDA's such as the Haku Cruiser and Vandy Vape Pulse BF RDA with single coil builds in the region of 0.18-0.25ohm (which is what I normally use with mechanical squonkers), and the Vandy Vape Pulse BF Squonk Box Mod has performed admirably well, with no real discernible difference between this and a lot of the higher priced squonkers out there on the market.

Conclusion

Over the past 18 months or so I’ve owned an awful lot of squonking mods, many that were rare, expensive, much hyped and sought after, and many that weren’t so much. However very few of those have offered the value for money that Vandy Vapes new squonker does, and I’m not surprised to see that this has proven to be an extremely popular product already!

In my opinion, if you are looking for a mechanical squonking mod then this one does the job perfectly whether you are looking for a back up mod or a new every day carry squonker. Vandy Vape’s Pulse BF squonker is a well made, well performing device that performs pretty much just as well as its counterparts on the market that sell for many times the price of this one!
