Coilmaster are a company responsible for providing rebuildable accessories, most famously they produced one of the first useable coil winding tools, that made building your own coils as simple as anything. They have now looked at providing a full kit containing all the tools you need to get going, and it's shaping up to be an awesome little tool kit indeed that could very well be all you require for your coiling needs.
So today I'll be looking at the Coilmaster V2 kit, a full DIY kit offering all the tools you need to rebuild your own coils...
The Coilmaster V2 DIY Kit
The Coilmaster V2 DIY Kit comes in a hard wearing silicon rubberised zip up kit bag, with all of the included equipment laid out neatly within inserts. There is also an authenticity code included so that you can check you have got yourself the real deal on the Coilmaster website.
There’s a vast amount of kit included within the silicon rubberised kit bag, so let's break down what is included:
DIAGONAL PLIERS - spring loaded and with soft rubber grip coated handles, these are nice and sharp, making clipping wires off a complete breeze!
NEEDLE NOSED PLIERS - these are spring loaded and function very well in allowing to to set positioning of your coils. They have also come in really handy when I’ve had to get some post screws out of my rebuildables that had become stuck in the post holes. Also, when torching wire/mesh, these come in handy to hold the wire or mesh at arms length to safely torch it.
STAINLESS STEEL FOLDING SCISSORS - you’ll find these to come in really handy when cutting your desired wicking material down to the size you need it! They also cut through my stainless steel mesh with ease when I use mesh in my Genesis atomiser builds.
PEN STYLED CROSS HEAD SCREWDRIVER - for your Phillips/Cross Head screws, commonly found in your posts or atomisers with a fill screw. It’s a pen shaped design and is comfortable in hand.
PEN STYLED FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER - as above really, but for screws requiring a flat rather than cross head.
CERAMIC TWEEZERS - very handy bit of kit indeed. Not only can you squeeze and pinch your coils when firing them without shorting for that neat and tidy look and to ease out the hot spots, but it’s also handy if you use mesh as you can grip your mesh with these, torch it to oxidise it, and not receive third degree burns from the stainless steel parts of the tweezer heating up...
ELBOW TWEEZERS - for those even finer adjustments to your coils and wick placements. These aren’t ceramic tipped however! With the fine tipped ends, you can really adjust your wick placements to perfection.
SPOOL OF 24AWG KANTHAL - If you are gonna build coils, you are gonna need wire. In the Coilmaster V2 kit, Coilmaster have generously included a 10ft spool of 24 AWG/0.5mm kanthal to get you going. 24AWG/0.5mm kanthal is one of my preferred coil thicknesses and it’s a nice thick wire I find easy to coil. You need to be aware that 0.5mm is pretty low resistance wire, so make good use of the included ohm meter!
PACK OF ORGANIC COTTON PADS - there’s a pack of Coilmaster’s own Organic Cotton Pads included in the kit, for wicking your builds. It’s unbleached and hasn’t been chemically treated so there is no need to boil it beforehand. It tears off easily, although you can use the included scissors for cutting the pads. It wicks very well, nice and absorbent, and has a nice clean taste once the juice has fully bedded in.
OHM METER - quite possibly the single most important bit of kit for any vapers arsenal when it comes to rebuilding your own coils. An ohm meter is incredibly important as it will give you the resistance of your build, so you can ensure this is well within the safe limits of your batteries, and also to ensure no shorts are present in your build. Resistance can be read with this between 0.01ohm-19.99ohm and it’s one of the most accurate ohm’s meters I have come accross, this ohm’s meter also allows you with the connector on the left hand side to measure your battery voltage, and will be able to check voltage from 0.01v-11.99v. It does require two AA batteries (sold separately).
COILMASTER COILING KIT V3 - Struggle to build the perfect coil? Then the Coilmaster Coiling Kit V3 is for you. It’s a coil winding kit that helps you to create nice tight, perfect coils simply by feeding your desired wire through the slot on the side, putting the top cap on and simply twisting the top cap until you have achieved the desired amount of wraps. I’ve created a perfect coil every time with this, and I’ve used wire thicknesses up to 0.5mm without any trouble. It also contains 5 separate interchangeable coil poles with 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm thicknesses, so you simply slot one of these in to attain your desired coil internal diameter. The Coilmaster V3 really does produce some real neat and tidy coils, and those who have struggled with rebuilding their own will find it extremely simple with this nifty bit of kit!
The only thing missing here, and this is being really nit-picky, is a hex shaped key for hex screws, but that is literally the only thing missing from this kit. Coilmaster have looked at what you need to rebuild and put together an all encompassing kit, and then some!
When it comes to rebuilding coils, the Coilmaster V2 DIY Kit has everything you need and more to produce perfect coils every time. Even the inclusion of cotton pads and a 10m spool of 24 awg wire means you can dive into rebuilding with a suitable atomiser immediately. They have covered all the angles here with an all encompassing coil building kit that provides all the tools you need and more, and caters to newbies to rebuilding and seasoned rebuilding veterans. There’s almost too much kit here, if there is such a thing, as many people won’t even need to use everything you get included. You can't argue with the price here too for the amount of kit included, it offers exceptional value for money!
