The UKVIA is the biggest trade body by market share representing the fast growing vaping industry. The organisation offers vape companies the opportunity to network with other members (including retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and compliance experts), to be a part of influencing government on issues affecting the sector, and to be associated with the high profile national media, consumer education and awareness campaigns.
UKVIA Vaping Industry Forum 2019 takes place at number 4 Hamilton Place in Mayfair, London, on Thursday 9 May. It is set to play host to more than 200 delegates.
Television doctor, Dr Christian Jessen, is to be the keynote speaker. Dr Christian will give his views on how vaping can become a major public health prize by helping smokers to quit. During April, Dr Christian is also fronting the UKVIA’s VApril campaign, the largest vaping consumer awareness campaign in the country.
Dr Jessen said: “I am convinced that vaping offers a route to a smoke free society in the future. There are 3.2m vapers in the country, the majority of whom have quit smoking. But there is a long way to go and we need the support of the healthcare community, pubs, employers and local councils to allow people the freedom to vape so it’s easier for them to break their smoking habits.”
“My own profession needs to do much more. Only recently, new research showed that the majority of hospitals are not allowing vaping within their grounds despite guidance from Public Health England to do so. This seems surprising considering the bill to the NHS will be considerably cut if more people switch from conventional cigarettes to vaping.”
This year’s conference themes include:
- What more can the public health community do to encourage vaping?
- Is the UK becoming vape unfriendly?
- Advertising, marketing and young people
- The future for vaping regulation
- How retail can deliver vaping’s public health potential
- The role of CBD in the vaping industry
Speakers and panellists include:
- Mark Pawsey MP
- Jon Ungoed-Thomas, The Sunday Times
- Sir Kevin Barron MP
- Andy Tighe, Beer and Pub Association
- Chris Snowdon, Institute for Economic Affairs
- Dr Caitlyn Notley, University of East Anglia
