VApril 2021

VApril 2021 will be different this year in two ways as brick-and-mortar stores can’t open until the 12th and Planet of the Vapes joins as an official media partner

VApril enters its third year with gusto having been a huge success in 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately, brick-and-mortar stores will be unable to open to the public until April 12th, but the organisers say this does mean they have more time to get their displays and product lines ready to make a big impact. Also, this year sees another change as Planet of the Vapes joins the VApril campaign as an official media partner.

UK Vaping Industry Association’s John Dunne told Vape Business: “From the beginning, VApril(1) has been about sharing the transformational potential of vaping, as well as telling the inspirational stories from the industry. Participating in VApril is a way to show you care about the vaping sector and what it stands for, as well as the thousands of people who use it to stop smoking each year.”(2)

VApril was set up by the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA), and its website declares: “VApril is back and this year it’s going digital to help reach out to UK smokers and vapers during the coronavirus lockdown and continue to offer specialist advice for anyone who has already stopped smoking or is looking to quit. In just three years VApril has established itself as the largest campaign worldwide to help smokers successfully switch to vaping, which is recognised by Public Health England as being at least 95% less harmful than conventional cigarettes.

“Today there are some 3m plus vapers who were former smokers and according to One Poll research amongst nearly 2,000 adults, 72% of smokers who were aware of VApril said that the campaign had influenced them to make the switch to vaping. Whether you’re a first-time vaper or you’ve never given it a go – there’s tonnes of advice to help you make the switch that could see you quitting smoking for good.”

UKVIA(3) also believes that this VApril stands as a chance for the vaping industry to loudly proclaim it is back open for business after being forced to close on the High Street for most of the last 12 months.

This year’s online campaign is in three parts:

  • It asks for vapers to get involved and speak up for vaping
  • The UK’s leading independent consumer charity The New Nicotine Alliance(4) has worked on producing a four-step plan to help smokers switch top vaping, and
  • Experts have provided detailed advice about vaping and offer the opportunity for the public to pose their own questions

Planet of the Vapes (POTV) is delighted to announce that this year it will be partnering UKVIA as an official VApril media partner, so it is likely you will be seeing our logo in stores and on accompanying literature.

Toby Kilroy, POTV’s managing director, commented: “We are thrilled to be joining with the UK Vaping Industry Association as an official media partner for VApril. Our primary focus for the website has always been to encourage people to switch away from tobacco by delivering honest, evidence-based information and advice.

“Our media coverage of vape related events and research has become a go-to source for many in the business and advocacy world and we’ve grown in leaps and bounds. Meanwhile, our online forum continues to grow and provides support and entertainment to thousands of ex-smokers.

“With our news section driving 2.5-million page hits per month and a 60K subscriber list to our weekly email, we hope we can continue to help a multitude of smokers successfully switch and use nicotine in a much safer fashion.”
