Vaporesso Gemini RTA styling and build quality
In my opinion the Gemini RTA literally screams quality because everything is really well manufactured and it fits together so well! The tank is 22mm in diameter and although it is quite tall it tends to look good on most mods due to its stylish and streamlined design. The Gemini holds 3.5ml of juice which is very reasonable.
Using stainless steel and glass construction this RTA feels solid and rather durable. The package includes replacement glass should you ever have an unfortunate accident. The Gemini comes fitted with a wide bore Delrin drip tip but the box also includes a standard 510 Delrin drip tip and an adapter so you use either that one or another drip tip from your collection.
There are numerous airflow options on this RTA and it also has a convenient top filling system as well as juice flow control.
While perhaps not quite at the Smok TFV4 levels of insane airflow the Gemini certainly has a lot of it. In addition to the four Cyclops style horizontal slots leading to the dual holes on either side of the deck the Gemini also has top airflow that is directed downward at the coils and that also can be fully adjusted. In addition the centre post of the deck also has holes which means the airflow hits the coils directly from behind.
Rest assured if you want a lot of airflow with plenty of control this RTA will meet your needs. One word of warning is that this a lung hitter’s tank and will not suit anyone who prefers a mouth to lung vape. I would like to say that you could just about get away with it if you heavily closed down the airflow but I suspect it would still be too loose and airy for most folks. Of course if you get the chance to try one in a shop or at a vape meet than see for yourself.
Ease of use
Building this tank is so incredibly easy! The build deck has a nice amount of space and the post holes are 2mm in diameter which will be more than sufficient for most typical builds. I used the two premade Clapton coils included in the box which gave me a final resistance of 0.5ohm. The screws are excellent, they adjust easily and make for a very secure fit and do not cut the wire.
Wicking is also very straightforward and I cut the wicking flush with the edge of the deck and pushed it slightly into the juice channel. There is also a metal ring on the deck which holds your wicking in place. Do take care not to stuff lots of wicking down the channels or you will risk flooding the chamber and end up with juice everywhere.
Filling is also straightforward but the top cap can be a little stiff when it’s new. The only slight drawback when you come to filling is that the upper airflow can be accidentally knocked so make sure its set exactly how you want before vaping. Make sure the juice flow control is closed when filling and as an additional precaution I also closed the bottom airflow. There is loads of room for your juice nozzles or dropper bottles.
How does it vape?
After priming the wicking I filled up the tank with some FRSTD Brown Sugar Cinnamon. I started vaping at 35W and the Gemini delivered an amazing vape. The draw on this tank is positively nuts and you feel like you can just keep inhaling away for what seems like forever!
Using 6mg strength (my typical preference) juice in this tank results in some serious nicotine hits and my head was completely swimming after a five minute vape but I wasn’t left feeling sick like I did when I tried the Smok TFV4, in fact you might say I was in some kind of very mellowed state. In all seriousness it was a very enjoyable vape and I don't feel anyone would be disappointed by what this tank has to offer.
Flavour was truly excellent and makes for a lovely experience no matter what juice you choose to use in it. As I said I first used Brown Sugar Cinnamon and then went on to vape some of Puff Dragon’s All City which is a delicious strawberry and cream flavour. When vaping both juices I felt I really got the very best from them and there was a nice amount of heat and a monstrous amount of vapour production. Vaping the Gemini indoors is a bit like being in old London town because very quickly you won’t be able to see anything in front of you!
High VG juice is no problem for this RTA since it features an easy to adjust juice flow control and I never had any dry hits. On the whole I never ran into serious leaking problems but I did occasionally get a small amount of juice dripping from the airflow control after re-filling. It was never that big a deal once quickly wiped away and the leaking certainly did not persist.
There are a couple of negatives about this RTA. Firstly the juice flow control adjustment could be improved (which is accomplished by rotating the main part of the tank) since ideally it should lock into place. Secondly the top cap of the tank should have some knuling to assist in unscrewing.
As you might expect being a dual coil tank the juice does drain quickly but providing you don't open the upper airflow I wouldn't say it was worse than other similar tanks. However once you open that additional airflow the juice gets postively hammered so do be mindful if you are on a budget.
When you buy a tank these days you expect a certain level of quality and the Gemini RTA certainly delivers in that department! This is a superb product that features excellent machining and fully caters to ease of use. The vape it offers is tremendous with outstanding flavour and some truly insane airflow that can be adjusted heavily depending on your preference!
It does of course have some very minor cons but thankfully they don't overshadow its mainly positive points. You’ll no doubt see many reviews dub the Gemini as the so-called “Griffin Killer” and I cannot in fairness make that comparison since I have never tried that tank.
If you want a dual coil tank that is really easy to get to grips with, holds a fair amount of juice and delivers a fantastic vape then the Gemini is something you should definitely pick up!
