OUMIER Maximus RDTA styling and build quality
What is impressive about this RDTA is the very high quality of the manufacturing. Now this is surprising when you considering the relatively low price point, and it does certainly look like a far more expensive item. All of the parts are really smooth with good threading, and I could find no obvious signs of burrs or defects.
All of the pieces fit together really well and what I liked a great deal was the fact that this RDTA can actually be broken down for cleaning, without having to first remove the 510 pin.
The majority of the Maximus is constructed from Stainless Steel and it has a lovely finish. Whereas the drip tip and tank are both made from Ultem. This of course has the benefit in the drip tip’s case of minimising the amount of heat transfer to your lips when vaping at high Wattage.
This RDTA is 24mm in diameter and stands only 32mm tall, as such it will be look fabulous on most devices. If I was personally in the market for another RDTA I would certainly be tempted due to its good looks and streamlined design!
One thing you may not care for is the branding, since there is a fair amount of it present. Personally I don’t actually mind it because it is neatly done.
Should you wish to purchase the Maximus it is offered in a choice of two colours, either silver or black.
Airflow
This RDTA has a generous amount of airflow and given the wide bore drip tip it is highly suited to direct lung inhales. As the airflow is closed down it still only offers a restricted lung inhale so it certainly isn’t practical for mouth to lung users. The airflow is adjusted by twisting the top section.
One real shame of the airflow design is that it only caters to dual coil builds. If only OUMIER had added an extra slot that would have really increased the versatility and appeal of this product.
Ease of use
Since the Maximus features a two post Velocity style deck you are very unlikely to run into any building issues. The post holes will certainly accommodate most typical builds, and there is more than enough room for Clapton coils, or anything more exotic you have in mind. In my opinion the screws work well and hold the wire securely.
Wicking is a simply process and you only need your cotton tails at least one third down the tank. The filling process is interesting and there is a unique square hold at the top of the deck directly above the posts. All you need to do is fit the nozzle of your juice bottle into the hole and squeeze in the juice. It works extremely well and makes things very convenient when you need to top up the tank.
How does it vape?
I set up the Maximus with a fairly restrained 3mm ID dual coil build using 26 gauge Kanthal, which had a final Resistance of 0.4ohm, and I wicked both coils with Japanese cotton.
On this occasion I decided to prime the wicks and fill up the tank with some Manbush Mojave Dessert. Upon taking my first vape I have to admit the flavour was pretty good, being nice and crisp. With the airflow fully opened up it did tend to be just a touch too muted for my liking, but once I closed the slots down by half I really started to enjoy it!
It certainly puts out a very respectable amount of vapour so you are unlikely to be at all disappointed in that department. Cloud fans will certainly be very happy! What I really liked about this RDTA is that it didn’t leak once and given that the fill port is right at the top of the posts the potential likelihood is greatly reduced.
Being dual coil only you do tend to get through the juice fairly quickly but thankfully that issue is offset by the convenient fill port.
Conclusion
I was left feeling very impressed with the OUMIER Maximus and I cannot see any reason why you would not enjoy it, providing you are happy with its dual coil only limitation.
The Maximus offers good clean flavour, excellent cloud production, and has the advantage that it is easy to build and clean. In addition it offers convenient filling, has a practically leak freak design and a low competitive price. Therefore it should come as no surprise that in my opinion this RDTA is well worth checking out!
If you’re looking for a new dual coil only RDTA at a reasonable price that performs well and is highly convenient to use then this one comes highly recommended. Many thanks to Ave40 who kindly sent this item to Planet of the Vapes for us to review.
