Hope the flight is one way and not a return flight.

The issue is, for these idiots to get on a plane...

It already landed to drop off other idiots so it can collect new ones

it was always going to open up to another spike the moment they started flying again way way too soon
& I'm an anti-mask person for grocery shopping, though if enclosed spaces like public transport I would
(we have decided rather than quibble or argue, she shops, I vape outside & carry grub to car to drive home)

but have a tiny shred of sense to refrain from flying away for a holiday for just one year/summer
so normally we jet off once or twice a year, but not this year - no fucking way

Missus is hoping October half term might settle down perhaps
yeah I'm not so sure, but not wishing to piss on her holiday dreams

It would have made sense when we were all in lockdown, if you need to go to the supermarket to get food (as we often did) then wear a mask and sanitize your hands before going in... but doing it now just seems silly when the rest of the time everyone is just going about as normal. It's not going to make a jot of difference overall.

this is what confuses me, surely it would have been more important to wear them in supermarkets during the peak, when everyone was freaked and queuing outside, hoarding bog roll etc. instead of now when we’re told it’s ok to go and sit drinking in a pub or get your hair done? makes no sense.

I guess it's just to offer a little extra protection to shop workers returning to work when the non-essential shops re-opened.... that makes some sense, my daughter works in a shop, I'm glad people are wearing masks in there now.

other than that though I don't think it's actually doing much.

Exactly - if they're effective now, they were effective then. :25:

Bumped into one of my old mates in the pub a few days ago.
Known him for about thirty years now.
He is a Scientist, and has always specialised in micro biology.
He works as a senior research scientist for a major international pharmaceutical company.
When I walked into the pub he asked what I had round my neck, I explained that I had just been to Sainsburys, and it was a mask exemption badge.
He read it, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "bit irrelevant really, mask's don't make much difference in controlling this virus"
A while ago I did mention that in a retail environment that I thought gloves were a better option than a mask, and he also said the same thing.
