Roll up.. roll up

Hello my fellow vape Apes
Today for review I have the Uwell Aeglos pod system, very kindly sent to me from sue @
https://www.healthcabin.net

This review are my own thoughts and nothing to do with those on POTV or Healthcabin. Neither have I been paid for this review.

Before I start this review I want to say I hope all you apes had a great Christmas and new year especially with all that is going on in the world.

I've been using this device for a while as my daily driver for the last week, so here are my thoughts.
Having never owned or used a uwell product, i was excited to give it a go and see for myself why they have the reputation they do.

Initial thoughts...

First thing I liked about the device was the fact it says hello and asks uwell ;) which is more than the wife does first thing the morning. So that's a pro in my books.

Also the very informative instruction manual which has step by step instructions on everything to do with device.

Now let's crack on with the review.

The mod...
For this review I recieved the grey version but it comes in an array of colours..
20210105_180934.jpg

This device has an inbuilt 1500MaH battery and the first thing that struck me was how light this little mod was, the screen has a nice shine to it and the grey colour I reviewed looked very smart. This is a very simple, easy mod and menu system to use.
five clicks to turn on/off, holding the power down button and fire locks/unlocks the device, holding power up and fire locks/unlocks the power settings.

The screen is nice and bright as always it displays the usual, power battery indicator, volts, coil resistance, seconds puffed, wattage and puff counter.
This device also uses type c fast charging which is very handy with an inbuilt battery and some of the coils running at 40w your never have to wait to long for it to charge.

The pod..

Yippee a clear, easy to see pod finally with adjustable airflow! . But with all good comes a niggle, and my god I think you need to go to the gym to get this pod out of the mod it's certainly is in there well which is also a pro because at least you havent got to worry about it coming out of the mod.
I would have liked to see a magnet pod like the drag X but understand it might not be possible with the airflow where it is.

20210105_160635.jpg

Now this is the one and only contradiction in the review the airflow! Yaaay it has airflow which means it can cater to all types of vapers with this device claiming DTL and MTL, but its under the pod, meaning whilst you're trying to find your perfect spot on the coils with airflow and flavour you have to keep removing the pod, which we already know is a pain. Once you've found your perfect airflow setting then you dont have to remove the pod again.

20210105_160446.jpg

It has a duck beak type mouth piece with the snap on and off filling mechanism the same as the xros.
But with only 1 supplied mouth piece and 2 different coils to cater for DTL and MTL, I personally found it to wide to get a proper MTL draw even with the airflow cut right down. I would personally say this is better aimed at DTL or RDTL. Espcially with coil ratings 20-30W MTL is abit much for me and you need them ratings to get any sort of flavour at all from the supplied coil.

The Coils..

uwell-aeglos-vape-kit-coils-uk.jpg

In the kit you're supplied with 2 coils.
UN2 Meshed 0.23ohm rated 40-45W
0.8ohm MTL coil 20-23W

I started with the 0.23ohm coil priming it and leaving it 20 minutes before vaping. I started on 25W slowly making my way up the wattages I was expecting quite alot from this coil after watching reviews on the product before testing and I didnt get any real flavour until about 38w and found my spot at about 43W. If I'm being honest as I always try to be i was quite disappointed in the flavour produced by this coil. I'm not saying it's awful but its not as good as I imagined it was going to be but maybe I set the standards to high.

I then stuck the 0.8ohm MTL coil in. Before I get onto my thoughts on this coil the picture on there website claims this coil has better smell which I have no idea what that means but the wife still says I stink so does it work who knows ha!

Anyway the flavour in this coil was alot better in my opinion but with the airflow not being tight enough and the flavour not being decent before 20W it was more of a RDL or a very loose MTL, if this coil had flavour at 10-15W I could deal with it being abit loose as it would be brilliant. For a restricted lung hit though the flavour and draw with the airflow over half way down is cracking and I was very impressed.

The coil life is also a very good talking point, I'm way over 250 puffs on each and they're both going well without a hint of burning so that's good for a little pod system.

If I was to rate this device on vapour production, flavour, quality and value for money out of 10 these would be my results:

Vapour- 5.5
Flavour- 7
Quality-8
Value for money- 8.5

Overall conclusion...

I was expecting quite a lot from this device maybe abit to much, and I was left a little disappointed, much like every Saturday when watching the football. But all is not bad when I take my time to think about it from other peoples perspective.

This device in my eyes is very very simple and easy to use with the instruction manual showing every part of the set up to help you if needed.
20210105_160952.jpg

So for me this device would be brilliant for a starter DL vaper or A RDL vaper with either coil the flavour and vapour production for a starter or somebody who wants a simple no fuss device would be great. But the coils with some of the pod systems out now and with more being released all the time just dont match what is already out at the moment.

So basically the mod absolutely brilliant, it looks smart, simple screen easy to see, no fuss with different menu options.
The pod and coils are okay but could be alot better.

Once again I want to say a massive thank you to Sue @Healthcabin for sending this device.
As always remember to log in or set up an account at healthcabin to get 30% of prices.

At the moment you can get the device for €23 and healthcabin also have the coils and extra pods in store which is a great price.

Nice review mate, a jolly good read. Seems there are lots of these kinds of devices which say they do MTL but only ever give a very loose draw, shame. Hope your wife doesn't read this review:D

Thank you mate! Yeah I think they do it so they cater to more people but doesnt really do MTL justice in terms of a draw for me but suppose it's all subjective and haha she dont care enough to read it haha

I really think they are missing a trick with it though as if it did a decent tight MTL draw as well then they'd sell more I reckon.
Ha ha ha fair enough mate, mine claims she reads them but I'm sceptical to say the least ha ha

Nice one Sam. Thanks for the review mate.

Hey. Thanks Sam

I agree, so annoying when they state mtl as a very loost mtl is not really mtl lol

Hey ho, such is life though

Thanks again and happy new year!

Hey thanks yeah it's slightly but for some people I suppose it will be perfect its just very close to being very very good
Hope you're well x

Great review @Sam Andrews, and I have to agree with pretty much everything you've said, particularly the tightness of the pod. The only difference is that I seem to have ended up liking it more than you.

I can't help but agree with @Gitchy yesterday though when he said it's counterintuitive to have a loose 0.3ohm coil and a 1500mah battery.

If they'd made it as a tight 1.2ohm MTL device it'd have been almost perfect.

Nice review Sam. I cant stop thinking about duck beaks now.

I've seen a few of this type of device lately and it's a little frustrating that they always state they're good for MTL and DTL when they're really best for RDL. It was the other way around a year or 2 ago, they all suited MTL better but papped in 0.6ohm coils as well so the manufacturer could claim it was versatile.

I'd also prefer they had a bit better battery power. 1500mah isn't great when they're popping 0.2/0.3 coils in. That's where I like to vape myself personally but I'd prefer even that extra 500mah.
