13 cats? Wow! I'm trying to convince my wife to adopt another one. We have two.

We did have 20 last year - lost 8 to old age and illness since then, and were adopted by Hobnob (my avatar) who just turned up one day unchipped and moved in. Asked around locally but nobody knew him so he stayed. We tend to take on the oldies, especially black cats because they're harder to rehome.

We had a black cat. She was the love of my life but jumped down the window and got lost, two years ago. I'm still in pain.

She's a beauty - looks like a dark tortoiseshell. They break our hearts when they go - my best dark tortie girl TC had to be put to sleep in May while I was away on business. My poor hubby had to deal with it.
