Leading doctors have called for a ban on cigarette sales to those born after 2000 in a programme of “progressive prohibition” aimed at curbing smoking-related deaths.
They urged the British Medical Association to lobby for a complete ban on the sale of cigarettes to anyone born in this century at the body’s annual public health medicine conference.
Tim Crocker-Buqué, a specialist registrar in public health medicine with the NHS, said: “Humanity has never developed anything more deadly than the cigarette.

Yawn, another 'nanny state' demand for no reason :(

Sent by lazer from just north of the world's largest nuclear dustbin

Other than the obvious Nanny state issues, this has massive logistical issues. Banning something doesn't make it disappear in the real world.

As if that will happen and how could they enforce it more media hyped bull crap.

It's unworkable. It may be easy enough now to figure out who was born in this century, but what about when they hit their 20s, 30s and 40s?

Sorry. The only way is ban cigs through the whole world but it wont happy for financial reasons.

And breathe :P

Just like prohibition of alcohol in America didn't stop people from drinking, selling alcohol and getting drunk, this won't work.
