Hello, the makers of the fabled heron 1.5 have shut down. Does anyone know why. No more spheroids, it's mind blowing historically speaking. I feel like offering to buy their cnc machine and programmes off of them. What can replace these inventive makers of atties? I've never tried any of them, but the heron 1.5 is part of mtl folk lore. Any insight would be much appreciated

Because people aren’t buying expensive atomisers anymore. They’re buying mass produced Chinese gear instead. China has forced the market in a direction where small scale production is no longer cost effective.

Don’t know if that’s entirely the reason but I fail to see how that’s not at least part of it.

Simply and sadly, I'd guess it's just economics....with (it seems) one MtL vaper to ten or fifteen DtLers - not specifically on POTV -but in six months' vaping I have yet to see another MtL set up in public (sorry, seen one! When I met @eightbitraptor :)) apart from obvious quitter e-cigs or cig-a-likes, whose users are hardly likely to want to spend the amount a GP beauty costs. They ain't hobbyists...And almost every vaper at work has a SMOK or similar, with gert big chuffy tanks). MtL, despite a small resurgence it seems, is very much a minority thing.

And, to be honest, how many of us have and regularly buy clones from FT etc. Whatever the figure it would surely vastly overshadow any sales VapourArt made. And probably most other small perfection-dedicated makers out there...

Yep at a guess lots of these famous companies started when vaping was shite and the gear was shite. They succeeded because they were better, despite the cost-factor.

Now you can buy amazing mass-produced gear for $15 on Fasttech, so the expense becomes harder to justify and said company goes out of business. For vapers this trend is a generally a good thing, albeit with the proviso that's it's not a good thing to lose these companies.

There’s also the fact that when you buy a vapourart or a byleo product or something like that. You basically have a product for life. The service is generally top notch with replacement parts and repairs being easy to carry out and the workmanship being exceptional. So you pay a lot of money but you only do it once.

Whereas most of the tanks and mods out of China are built well and out of good materials but there’s no longevity. Stuff comes with 6 month warranties if you’re lucky and if it breaks. Well it was only £20 lob it in the bin and buy another.

The Greek economy hasn't helped, but if that was the main reason I'm sure they'd have relocated to somewhere more profitable.

Cor it’s quiet in here tonight.

A thread like this, I was expecting a 21 page argument about Chinese gear and clones!! Not a peep.

Winter Olympics, lol.

Or maybe the Judge Judy weekender has started...

The same reason why by Leo are on the verge of shutting down every time he designs and makes a new rta.
I've said before I know for a fact he makes less than the UK minimum wage for every rta he sells.
These guy's do what they do for the love and despite how large this community may seem it's actually very small indeed and there's little money in the specialist area's.
Expect to see more if things don't change.

Don't get me started on Chinese clones......................................:18:
There you go @eightbitraptor wouldn't want you to get bored mate :D
