Why are mechs so awkward?

Just occasionally, you see some beautifully designed tube mechs. I mean visually, not ergonomically. There's also some gorgeous engineering going on with some. All these things drew me to these mechs. Possibly more than the immediacy of the vape, to be fair.
I've got my eye out for a Dreamer, or clone, coz I think it's sexy. And I think every tube mech vaper, hankers after a Vindicator, overtly or not.
