All chips are not the same.....

Tech reply : the chips are mostly the same. The difference is what you put in them. It's all about the firmware. The mod software on the pc is a nice addition but the main difference is how they are programmed. There is no wheel to re-invent. The chips are capable of amazing things, DNA's have a great firmware on those chips. You can easily make a board with an arduino or PIC chip. The challenge is the programming, functions, values reading samples , speed, pwm output variation ... The voopoo GENE chip is good, the vaporesso omni board is also good. The dna's are more refined, a bit more precise, and highly customisable. This is mostly done at a firmware level, the software in the chip. They still use a mosfet on output, they still measure the same. It si also about cost . You can put a military grade comparator chip in there that has a stupid precision level and get temp control out of any metal at any value.
