Lower the coil a smidge and check the fluffy wick isnae blocking the airholes.
I can see about 1.5mm of the arse end of my coil thro the airhole.

You're right. It does look a wee bit higher than I'd normally put it. I'll have a tinker again tomorrow night and see if i can get the boy singing.

Saw similar in John Lewis, they reminded me of the kit my Auntie had back in early 80's.

C'mon lass, if I can get this kit flavourfully tooting, you should be having nae bothers.
