Leaving the fill screw in should cut it down but I forgot to refit mine after curing my over fill of cotton.
Its a suck it and see what suits situation, filk screw out should aid wicking if its struggling but fill screw in should result in a slight vacuum in thr tank as you draw which should aid wicking but cut down on leaking.......in theory anyway.....try both and see what works. I'm running no fill screw today but I'll shove it back in and test tonight.
