Ripley RDTA not wicking

Wick looks too high to me.

Thinned out the wick and pressed right down - nearly choked me to death on the fifth draw. I honestly don't think it's the cotton, I don't think the capillary action is working. The cotton draws the liquid from the top of the tube and then drys out.

Is the coiling rod sitting in the tray? The coil looks high too.

Just checked and yep - won't go any lower.
The cotton wicks fine until it's drawn the liquid from the top of the tubes - the problem seems to be that more liquid isn't coming in to replace it.

im with @John R the coil looks to high after watching this video & around the 19 min mark you can see how low the coil should be.
