Thanks for the suggestion but it was user error I'm afraid - the coil leg was touching part of the front screw plate, I bent the leg up and brought it in from over the top and it started working and hasn't shorted since. Once the tanks empty I am still taking the whole thing apart though.

2.5mm every time for me. Perfect for the deck in my experience

I generally use 27 awg kanthal, 2.5mm ID, 7 wraps @ 1.1 ohm. Vape it between 13 to 15 watts.

Usually I don't space the coils, but sometimes they are slightly spaced. Doesn't seem to make any difference to me.

I puff for about 4 seconds on each draw. I don't ever have a problem with the ramp up
