Thoughts about a new sticky?

I'm thinking about proposing a sticky, and thinking
A) which category to propose it, mixology or newbie.
B) is it even a go-er.

With tpd kicking in more people will be asking,

A) how much 72mg/20mg nic to add to 0mg to get 3/6 etc.
B) general diy question about percentages for those coming to diy.

My proposal would be:

How much 72mg nicotine do I need to add to get....?

Take your target level, 3mg 6 mg 12mg 18mg

Multiply it by how much juice you want to make, 10ml 30ml 50ml 100ml

This gives the total nicotine in the bottle.

Divide this number by 72. (Nic base)

So

Target 3mg
Bottle size 100ml
Total nic 300mg
300 / 72 = 4.16ml

Target 6mg
Bottle size 100ml
Total nic 600mg
600 / 72= 8.33ml

Alternatively,
(Target/base nic) x volume

to make 3mg

50ml of nic free juice - 10ml of 18mg same flavour = 60ml 3mg

100ml of nic free juice - 20ml of 18mg same flavour = 120ml 3mg

150ml of nic free juice - 30ml of 18mg same flavour = 180ml 3mg

200ml of nic free juice - 40ml of 18mg same flavour = 240ml 3mg


to make 6mg

40ml of nic free juice - 20ml of 18mg same flavour = 60ml 6mg

80ml of nic free juice - 40ml of 18mg same flavour = 120ml 6mg

120ml of nic free juice - 60ml of 18mg same flavour = 180ml 6mg

160ml of nic free juice - 80ml of 18mg same flavour = 240ml 6 mg

Technically the sums are a touch out too. The final amount of juice will be higher than 100ml once nic has been added...it's negligible with the 3mg and maybe the 6mg but as you get higher to the 12/18/24 you're going to have quite a big difference in the total amount.
