Probably a stupid question regarding syringes....

When using a syringe with a blunt needle to measure liquids, how do I know how much liquid the actual needle holds?
I'm assuming if the syringe reads 1ml, if I squirt it into a bottle it will actually then have more than 1ml in it?

Fill syringe to required quantity then remove the needle before squirting into bottle or what I do is fill syringe from top with thumb over bottom, replace plunger and flip syringe upside down, remove thumb and squirt into bottle.

It is, it would cause havoc in my job drawing up powerful drugs for patients if it weren't the case!

When you plunge the needle all the way down, so nomore will come out, youll still have the needle full anyway so it doesnt matter.

Diversified nurse, not worked in practice for a long time, I teach pharmacology/toxicology at a university now. Animals sciences/zoo biology and vet nursing.
