Hot spots !!!

With the Nextiny and Nextgen, watch the tension of the wire as you coil, should neither be tight, nor slack.

With hotspots, focus on the end of the hotspot. That is the point where the wire is conducting to the mesh. So in your example above, it sounds like it's conducting as soon as it touches the mesh. Might indicate that you didn't oxidise the mesh enough. I do the drip-burn method, and repeat 6 times. You'll find that if you gently wiggle the end of the hotspot, it will gradually move up the wick, or disappear.

It might seem like a lot of effort, but it is all front loaded. Mesh is actually for the lazy...
