I am thinking about trying my first ever Zipper Coil at the weekend and had a question about longevity.

It seems to take a fair old bit of wire to make, does this extend its lifespan? Is there anyone out there that uses a zipper that can tell me how long you normally go before changing your coil?

    Many thanks in advance :)

Your main hassle wi' a Zipper is when it comes to coiling the bitch. 2 springy wires that'll behave worse than a Jack Russell after an espresso! :17:

My Zippers lasted a fair while and I'm sure if I go into the coil graveyard jar I could resurrect a couple. I think about 2 months before I changed one out...

They don't take that long to make, only if you straighten each individual piece of wire 'fore twisting.

anyhoo, have fun with the making, have fun with the results and post pix in the coil porn section/thread!!

I've a coil in the jar of dead wires made from 1mm wire that gets dug out occasionally for shits and giggles. Made it September last year and still going.

Oh, and placing the Zipper coils is really when you learn patience and that 'strumming' the wires helps a lot.
