Bearing Spinner...

You got me... I saw a few 'coil porn' pics and vid, and now I'm desperate to give it a go...

I've ordered loads of wire from Juice Junkies, A1, NI, and ribbon, and whilst there saw their spinners... They look great, but I thought I could save £10 - £25, so yesterday I made this...

I've not tried it yet, cuz the wire hasn't arrived, and I only have wire cuts not long enuf for a proper build...

It's an 8 or 10mm Allen bolt, I can't remember which, and a bearing from my RC toybox... Slot cut into the end of the bolt, and a thru hole to pin in the hook.. I know the fishing spinner isn't really required, but it has a nice clasp / hook, and also makes for a backup, should the bearing fail...

It's so free, that the oversized 'R' clip rotates to the heavy end by gravity..

What to you guys think.. ?? Will it work ok..??

Its designed to either put in a vice (probably what I'll do) or be clamped to the table...

Any thoughts, or design improvements welcome...

Very good the bearing is a great idea and I agree you should have the swivel for backup can’t wait to see your wires. I get paid on 15th so will order some swivels xx

My very first 14 inches of fused clapton... 26 A1 with 36 nic wrap...

First 2-3 inches, finding my feet...

Then it came good, and this was the rest...

Lord knows how you guys take pics tho... This was fully zoomed in on my S5 phone, with a magnifying glass held in front of the lense.. !!
And they're crap pics..

Having trouble straightening it tho... I twist the drill in the opposite direction and it is only untwisting the first bit of the wire, not the whole length, then the first, now straight, part starts twisting in the opposite direction to the far end.. !!??

Any advice.. ??

Looks good! The jig seems to be working well. I've never built wire like that so unfortunately I can't provide any input.
