What's new

The 3d printing thread

I am in a bit of a dilemma now. Because the enclosure I've chosen is so small - I don't think that a battery sled, no matter how tight will even squeeze in! But it's reassuring to know that the option is there. I am sure that other members here have bigger and better things for your newly acquired equipment ;)

Maybe consider going duel 18350 if space is a real issue?

That is an option. Apart from me buying a spare pair of 350s. But I'd really like to get a pair of 650s in a 76mm x 51mm case and either pwm or a murata t/20. More for the challenge really :)

You will find it supa tight with those dimensions (is it the Deltron 76mm x 51mm x 26mm box?)

Think you will have a hard time fitting a off the shelf 18650 sled in there!

You could go with a short sled that uses the 228040-1 rather then the springy Keystone 204 battery clips

This would let you have a custom shorter battery sled, and may be possible to fit a duel 18650s?

It is the deltron 76mm. After a fair bit of cutting and grinding I found I still couldn't fit a sled in. God knows how Im going to fit a Murata t/20 in too -I'm still hopeful. Onward to plan B!

Interesting new filament that could be good for MOD parts, PET+

https://youtu.be/qpFZEl-cXv4

PET is 100% recyclable, unlike the ABS used my the vast majority of the MOD community (and injection molded parts like button and battery sledges).

Also found the fire retardant propriety interesting Vs ABS plastic, considering venting.

Have a few spools of PET+ come in the post yesterdy, so will see how it compares to ABS for battery sledges, and report back.

Here's our latest printed by Shapeways. This one holds a 15mm FDV we also have a 14mm Varitube model.

Looked at Shapeways, and frankly they're extortionate. a $5-7 sled, you can get from the US is something like $15.. not touching them with a barge pole.
