while I’m waiting for some bits to turn up I thought I’d pop to my shed for a bit of wood therapy.
This piece has a crack in it. So often eucalyptus has cracks and splits.
Got so far and thought Ah sod it.
Finished in a clear laquer. Crack and all.....

Now holding coils for a coolfire I use now and again.

Shame about the top.
Plenty more ideas to come.

That’s brilliant...you have a talent..bet it will smell nice for ages.

Hard as hell buddy.
Thing with Eucalyptus is as soon as it’s cut you need to split it as soon as possible. Once dried it is rock solid. I learnt the hard way.

Workable with hand tools for a spot of small scale joinery do you think?

Yes mate. The trick is use sharp Everything. And because the wood grows in a twisty sort of way it’s fairly straightforward to hand saw. Sanding on the other hand will be a choir.
This mod I made here took at least 3 hours of hand sanding.

Thanks Sam just waiting on a couple of bits for your stand mate. Hopefully next few days.

I have good tools which are very sharp. Will look into finding some. Cheers
