TECC Sono Mini

TECC have just released a couple of fantastic pod kits, and for a limited time, they are available for some insane prices. Today we look at the baby of the bunch, the TECC Sono Mini

Our good friends at TECC want to give everyone the best possible chance to quit smoking but they are very aware that times are tough and not everyone has the spare cash to drop on an expensive starter kit at the moment, so they have just released two perfect kits to get you on your way (or give you a cracking little vape for those times you don’t want to take a big kit out with you). We will be looking at both new kits this week, and we are going to start with the baby of the duo, the TECC Sono Mini.

The TECC Sono Mini is a totally barebones kit which is perfect for anyone switching over from disposables. It is a no faff set up designed to be filled and used with no extra steps or complications. But don’t be fooled by this simple idea, the vape is deceptively good, but we will get to that later.

Unboxing and Specs

The TECC Sono Mini comes with almost everything you need to get going quickly. You get the main device and two 0.8ohm pods, along with the instructions and warranty card. You will notice it doesn’t include a charging cable, but these days most of us have loads of little USB leads knocking around, and if for some reason you don’t already have one, TECC sell them separately. I would always take two pods over another charging cable any day so that already wins some brownie points.

It comes in a choice of three colours, black, silver, and purple, and TECC one a few more bonus brownie points by sending me the purple option which is a light silvery lilac, nothing too bright as to be too showy. I really like it, but I am a sucker for purple kits.

  • Size - 109mm x 24.8mm x 14.7mm
  • Battery Capacity – 1100mAh
  • Maximum Power – 35W
  • Coil Resistance – 0.8ohms

Looks, Feel, and Performance

The TECC Sono Mini is a light little thing which feels great to hold, especially with the well-rounded curves around the edges. It feels smooth with no sharp corners, and even the cut outs for the charging port and airflow adjuster feel well machined. The front is home to the screen and the TECC logo, the back has Sono Mini printed on it, and the sides are where the USB port and the airflow slider live, one on each side. As it is purely auto draw, there are no buttons to worry about which helps with the overall streamlined feel.

I love the little screen. It only serves a single purpose, and that is let you keep an eye on your battery charge level. Instead of giving you numbers or percents, it relies on a groovy dynamic light show which glows initially to let you know roughly what level you are at (green – 100% to 70%, blue – 69% to 31%, red – 30% or less). As you take a puff, the lights graduate through a spectrum of colours, normally I don’t like lightshows, but this has been really tastefully done. Sure, you don’t get much detail, but on a kit like this, you don’t need much info anyway, and it really adds a certain style.

The included 0.8ohm pods are the perfect choice as they will suit most e-liquid types whether you prefer nic salts or freebase juice. You can also get 0.6ohm and 0.4ohm pods if you want to try something different, but the included ones are a great starting point. Filling is straightforward, there is a little rubber tab on the upper side of the pod which lifts to reveal the fill hole. It is quite snug, but most bottles come with skinny nibs these days anyway. After the first fill, let it sit for a few minutes to let the liquid really soak in, and then it is ready to vape.

So finally, we get to the best bit, and this is where I was really impressed…the flavour. This little kit punches way above its weight in this department. The flavour is thick and full, and you get all of the detail of your e-liquid. I treated myself to some rather special juice today, and I hesitated to use it in this kit as I was worried it would be a waste, but there was no need for concern as the flavour was as good as any other kit, and dare I say, may be a bit better than many. This is a really good vape, especially from such a simple kit.

Final Thoughts

TECC have pulled a blinder with the Sono Mini kit. It ticks all the boxes for a perfect starter kit. First up, it comes with two pods to get you started, then there is the simplicity, it is not complicated but it all just works effortlessly. It looks and feels great to use, and I really love the dynamic battery lights. All in all, it is a really solid little performer.

The RRP on the TECC Sono Mini is £16.99, a decent price for this kind of vape quality. But for a very limited time, from now until the 12th Feb, you can bag one of these little beauties for just a fiver! That quite frankly is insane! This is a great little kit, so don’t snooze on this chance to get it for not much more than a takeout coffee.

Many thanks to TECC for sending in the Sono Mini kit
