We have always been impressed by SKE’s disposable line-up, they are consistently good performers and always taste great, so when TECC asked if we’d like to check out their latest “big puff” range, well it was a no brainer.
The SKE Crystal CL6000 is, on the surface, a fairly standard semi disposable kit. You get a 2ml internal tank and a 10ml additional e-liquid reservoir giving you up to 6000 puffs over the lifespan of the base kit. The internal battery is a larger than average 800mAh which should keep most vapers going throughout the day, but never fear, when you are running low as you can just plug it in via the USB-C port on the bottom to boost it back up again. When you are finally out of e-liquid, it is one of the easiest big puff style kits to break down for recycling too. It all feels pretty well thought out when it comes to the end user experience.
Unboxing and First Impressions
The SKE Crystal CL6000 comes in a substantial box, this is going to take up a fair amount of shelf space for retailers! The plus side for this is that unpacking it is much more pleasant than most that come crammed into an undersized pack, and if you don’t want to assemble everything straight away but still want a quick look at the contents, you can easily pack everything back in the box. This probably isn’t a thing for most regular vapers, but as a reviewer, this made my life easier!
Inside the box, you are presented with three sealed packages. You get one for the main body, one for the 10ml juice container, and one for the internal 2ml tank and mouthpiece. Removing all the parts from their packs, I found one thing that really puzzled me. The main device comes with a dummy tank which has a sticker on it that says “USELESS”. I spent way longer than I should wondering what the purpose of this extra chunk of plastic was just to finally come to the realisation that it was in fact absolutely and completely erm well useless! With all the concern about excessive plastic waste, I really don’t get the discission to add this instead of just sealing it all with a sticker or a rubber bung. Once I finally stopped scratching my head over the useless tank, I then got busy putting everything together, and this was mostly a breeze. The 10ml container and the 2ml tank just clip together, and they fit smoothly without too much effort or pressure. So often, these big puff kits need to be wrestled together, so this one made a refreshing change. There are four tabs that slot together to hold the two components in place, and a couple of my kits had bent tabs which needed to be lined up again. I was a little concerned these plastic tabs might snap off, but thankfully they held, but you might want to give them a quick check before assembly.
Once these two bits are clipped together, you then slide them into the main device. Once again, it was really easy, and unusually, this section is held in with magnets like a real pod kit, so you don’t have to force anything. I think this design is a big improvement, and if you have dexterity troubles, this is the best big puff kit I have tried to date. I always go by a system I call “could my mum manage it?”, and the SKE Crystal CL6000 gets full marks here.
Now the bits are all together, it is ready to vape. There is a small screen on the battery side which lets you know how much charge is left, using a numerical system for great accuracy. The main juice well is a smoked transparent plastic, although it is fairly dark, you can clearly see you remaining e-liquid levels so you should never run the risk of a dry hit once empty. Everything feels like it has been designed to be used, all the little quality of life details make this one of the most user-friendly big puffs available at the moment.
Currently there are ten flavours available, all using SKE Crystal Nic Salts, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this extended as there are more flavours available in the e-liquid range. They are only available in 20mg, standard for disposable style vapes, but I would like to start seeing more 10ml options as this would give quitters a clear pathway to reducing their nicotine levels. Once done, you only need to throw away the e-liquid side, although at the moment TECC only sell the complete kits. Hopefully they will stock the refill packs soon too.
The Flavours
TECC sent over the complete range. These are all pretty standard classic flavours which will make any current disposable user feel right at home. This also means higher levels of sweetener and cooling so rather than repeating that for every flavour, I’m getting that out of the way here.
Cherry Ice
The ice is strong here, and the first few puffs took my breath away. Once I got used to it, I could concentrate on the flavour which is a very sweet and somewhat artificial candy cherry. It has a milder depth of flavour than I like in a cherry vape, but the aftertaste is really nice and lingers well. I’ve had a lot worse, but it also isn’t top tier cherry, serviceable would probably be the best description here.
Blueberry Raspberries
Things hit their stride here, this is a really nice mix of the two berries. You get a sweet and fairly realistic raspberry paired with a more floral, earthy blueberry. Both flavours are individually distinct but have also been blended well together to make a great combination.
Watermelon Ice
After the cherry ice, I was a bit more prepared for the glacial burst, but it wasn’t quite so strong this time round making it a much more pleasant vape. The watermelon is fairly strong but leans more to the sweeter side which I find works better than some of the more bitter ones. It is more of a candy watermelon which I think works better for disposable type vapes.
Strawberry Burst
Initially you get a fairly earthy strawberry, but this develops as you vape bringing out the sweetness before finally leaving you with a rich jammy finish. I really like this one, definitely one for the sweet toothed vapers out there though, but it vapes really well.
Sour Pineapple
That is proper sour! The pineapple is lovely, rich and full of tropical magic, but that sour is not to be sniffed at, it is a proper cheek twitcher. I think it may be the best sour flavour I have tried; it really hits hard. If you like sour candy, like toxic waste levels, you are in for a treat here. It won’t be for everyone, but I love it.
Blueberry Sour Raspberry
This is similar to the regular version of the Blueberry Raspberry from earlier, but with a sour hit thrown in for good measure. It isn’t quite as strong as the sour pineapple hit, but it is still quite strong. It is a good option if you like berry vapes but want to mix things up a bit.
Lemon Lime
This is citrus turned up to eleven. You clearly get both a sharp lemon and a smoother lime, and it is super juicy. Better still, it tastes fruity, so many lemon lime e-liquids have a chemical flavour which ends up tasting a bit like washing up liquid, but this avoids that trap. This is one of the better versions of this classic combo.
Pink Lemonade
The pink bit is a little hard to distinguish, but the main lemonade is great. You get a refreshing mix of sharp citrus with a distinctly fizzy effect which dances on your tongue. I don’t know how they have created this as it is a very distinct sensation rather than a flavour designed to taste fizzy. There is some clever mixing going on here.
Fizzy Cherry
Ooh there’s that clever fizz again, that is some mixing magic right there. The cherry seems better here too without the big ice hit distracting from the core flavour. You get the depth and the richness this time round making this the better choice for me personally.
Blue Razz Lemonade
That great lemonade base has been used with good effect here, but this time you can really taste the blue razz too, so you get a nice contrast between the sharp lemon and the sweet slushy raspberry flavour. You also get a certain amount of the fizz making this another great combo.
Final Thoughts
There are some fantastic flavours here, I can’t remember the last time I genuinely enjoyed every single flavour in a complete range as much as I have this time with the SKE Crystal CL6000s. There are a few I wouldn’t personally buy, but if you like the sound of any of them, there is a very high chance you will love what you get.
The device itself has been really well designed with the end user in mind, and it makes a nice change to get a big puff kit that doesn’t fight back during assembly. The slightly larger battery capacity is a nice touch too. I would like to see them ditch the “useless” pod though.
If you want to pick some SKE Crystal CL6000 kits up for yourself, you can purchase them from TECC for £9.99, which makes them one of the better priced big puff kits, and if you like a multi buy deal, you can get 3 for £29.
Many thanks to TECC for sending the SKE Crystal CL6000 range in for review.
