Fumot Mate Pod Kit

Fumot step up to the plate with their latest kit, the Fumot Mate Pod Kit

Share on:

Fumot sent me a batch of their newest Fumot Mate pod kits over to have a toot on.

I’ve mentioned before that I like the flavours from Fumot. They’re still very sweet and cold, but they do sometimes have a more realistic flavouring beneath them, and the sweet and cold additives aren’t too over the top, so they suit me a bit better than some of the super flavoured kits out there just now. Don’t get me wrong these are still full of flavour, but there’s a bit more nuance for me, so I do enjoy them.

The Fumot Mate Pod Kit comes in three parts. First, you’ve got the battery section, which is the bottom half of the whole thing. It has an 850mAh internal battery and a screen on it to show the charge level. There’s a button to change the power setting from eco to boost, and on the other side is a USB type C charging port. The top half comprises of two parts. First you have the 2ml pod with the dual mesh coil and mouthpiece incorporated, and then you have a separate 10ml pod full of juice to fill the 2ml pod up. You just click these two together and pop them onto the battery section to get going. What I do like about these types of kits is that it’s ready to go, there’s no waiting for the coil to saturate as it’s already been doing that on the shelf.

The whole thing is comfortable to hold and is auto draw activated, the button only changes the mode. It’s a nicely rounded rectangular device that lasts a while due to the 12ml liquid in it. Fumot claim it can give up to 10000 puffs, but I’ve not really got the time to count that much so I’ll take their word for it.

The one thing that bothers me about Fumot is that they’re not widely available where I am. I’ve never seen any of their kits in shops and a search online only shows a couple of vendors selling them. It’s a shame as they do have some good designs for their kits and I personally rate the flavours.

So, onto the flavours. As I’ve said, they all have a degree of cooling and sweetener in them, but they’re not always overly done.

Rainbow

It’s a lovely rainbow sherbet with a proper sweet kick, kind of like the sherbet tubes you can buy. There’s a nice fruity tang mixed in with citrus, all backed up by the almost fizzy sherbet. It’s an interesting flavour for me. Can I say sherbet again? It’s sherbet.

Pink Lemonade

Another very sweet juice but then drinks e-liquids are meant to be very sweet or what would be the point? It’s got a strong lemonade flavour with the berries sitting behind that. Once the sweetness fades a little, the flavour is quite realistic and true to the drink.

Cola Ice

It’s a melted ice pole (ice Pop) flavour, just like the end of an ice pole when it’s melted. The cola is strong but is a bit more watery than syrupy and I like that about it. I think it’s the ice additive that’s giving the watery aspect, and it works well.

Strawberry Kiwi

This is a sweetie like strawberry that leads the way, and then the kiwi comes on with the ice effect. Both of the flavours melt together and leave a sweet taste in the mouth. There’s a nice aftertaste to this one and I enjoyed it as the two fruits have a realistic base under the sweetener.

Fizzy Cherry

I get a maraschino style cherry with a hint of marzipan at first. This is one of those flavours where the more you vape, the deeper the flavour gets. I’m torn with this one as it’s quite light at the same time as having deep flavour, and there’s the same lift from the ice that the Cola has. It’s decent.

Watermelon Ice

I get more of a medley of melons here, rather than a straight watermelon. The watermelon is evident, but there seems to be a honeydew and cantaloupe tang there as well. It’s very refreshing and sweet, one of the few where I’d prefer no ice so I could work on tasting what’s in there.

Strawberry Ice

This strawberry is a touch more realistic than the one mixed in with kiwi. It still has that sweetie like taste that I love in a strawberry, but there’s an authentic hint about it as well that I really like.

Menthol

I do enjoy a menthol now and again and this one has no harshness about it. It’s quite smooth and I get a couple of minty flavours in there as well as the menthol. The sweetener gives a spearmint note, and the menthol is more peppery.

Final Thoughts

It’s weird with Fumot as I do get a lot of sweetener in their flavours but there’s also the undercurrent of well-crafted flavours in there as well which makes me like them more than some of the other disposable style juices. They’re not in your face strong, but the subtlety kicks in after a while and makes them enjoyable.

The device itself is another basic style battery that takes the replaceable pods, and it does its job well, while the pods themselves give you a lot of juice for not a lot of money. It’s nice to see companies being more aware of the environmental side of things now that single use kits have been banned, and it’s also nice to see the different ways that they’re all going about it.

Thanks again to Fumot for sending the Fumot Mate Pod Kit over to try out.

Pros
  • 12ml of juice in two pods that click together
  • Can use the battery section again and again
  • I like the flavours
Cons
  • Fumot continue to not colour co-ordinate their pods with the flavours. Green for rainbow? Cmon

I was a very militant smoker for many years…why would I stop doing the only thing I had left that I liked doing?  Then I fell into vaping in 2017.  My wife bought a cheap kit off from Amazon that stopped working and I took it to a local vape shop to see what they could do with it.  An hour later and full of new knowledge about watts, ohms, and juice strength, I headed home with a new nautilus mini tank for her and raved to her about the helpful guy in the shop. I must have bored her with all my new found information.  I tried her vape that night, and a week later bought my own kit. Then I found POTV and the amazingly helpful and generous people on it. A month later I was making my own (disgusting) vape juice, and a month after that I was winding coils for my new RDA.  Six years on and I'm much better at making juice, and I now have no money but lots of shiny mods and tanks
