Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pod Kit

Despite everything, the future of vaping is still looking bright thanks to the new breed of products coming out. We take a look at the new Elf Bar 600 prefilled kit

The date for the total ban on single use vapes is drawing near fast, and I think we have all been waiting to see how the industry responds. If there is one thing I have learned as a long term vaper, it is that you can throw anything you like at us, we will find a way to carry on doing what ever we need to do to stay smoke free, and we are now seeing what the future of vaping is going to look like. Over the next few weeks, we will be featuring many next generation kits which should make the transition from disposables to more sustainable vaping a painless experience all round.

Leading the charge from a retail point of view is our great friends over at TECC. They are putting together a really impressive product roster covering new items from all of your favourite disposable brands, and we are kicking things off with one of the big names. Elf Bar were one of the first brands to bring disposables to the mass market, and they have a very strong and loyal following thanks to their great flavours and instinctive to use products. The original Elf Bar 600 is a bit of a classic, so it seems like the obvious choice for them to update it for the new age. The brand new Elf Bar 600 Prefilled pod kit should be in prime position to kick things off.

Unboxing and First Impressions

A big factor in helping a smooth transition to the new breed of kits will be instant familiarity, and Elf Bar have scored highly on that front. From the get-go, this looks like a regular Elf Bar vape, from the packaging down to the kit. Starting with the packaging, it just looks like a regular disposables packet but look closer and you will see the magic words “Prefilled Pod” on the box. Opening it up, you are greeted with a sealed silver tear to open pack, exactly as you’d get with any disposable. But once in, we start to see what is going on here. The kit is half assembled so it does look like a plain disposable initially, but the pod has a double ended rubber bung to keep the contents fresh. So before you can vape, you need to remove this from both ends.

Then you simply pop the pod into the body, turning it round until the magnets click into place and you are ready to go. From here on in, it works exactly the same as the old Elf Bars we all know and love.

Each pod contains 2ml of 20mg e-liquid, so the same as you’d get with your old disposable. You can buy packs of pods, which come in pairs, but if you want a particular colour for your vape, you will need to make sure you pick the right initial kit. So, for example, I was sent the Strawberry Raspberry Cherry Ice kit so got a salmon pink body. The body contains the 500mAh battery, an indicator light (which is very simple, white means 30% charge and above, and red is 30% and less), and the charging port. Yep, that’s right, this is a fully rechargeable device, but you will need to use your own USB-C cable. Considering the base kit is only £5.99, I think leaving the charging cable to the consumer is perfectly fair, but if for some reason you don’t have at least one laying around, TECC sell them separately.

As for how the Elf Bar 600 prefilled kit feels, well it feels like the old disposable ones. I think it may be slightly longer, but that may well be my imagination. The magnets holding the pod are very good and I had no wobble, so it just felt like a one piece design. The pod fits snugly right into the body so you can’t see your remaining e-liquid on the fly, but if you need to check, simply pull the pod out and take a look. The pods are a smoked plastic, but you can easily see through it, and I massively prefer this to the old ways as it means you shouldn’t get surprised by any unexpected dry hits.

So far, there are 17 flavours which will instantly make Elf Bar fans feel right at home. All of the old classics are there. TECC kindly included five packs of pods for us to try out, but if you are an existing Elf Bar user, you should already know what to expect as these are the exact same recipes. But if you are new to the Elf Bar family, we will go over the ones we were sent.

Blueberry Sour Raspberry – This has quite a sour kick to it, it hits hard and fast with a nice cheek tugging sensation. But this quickly lifts to leave a deliciously fruity mix of the two berries. I think this is a great flavour for though who still want that through feel you get with a smoke, it is quite well textured. Underpinning it is a great flavour though, this ain’t no one trick pony.

Strawberry Raspberry Cherry Ice – The Strawberry and Raspberry come through strong and in equal measures, making a rich, jammy combination. The cherry is a bit further back in the mix and comes through more in the exhale, leaving you with a smooth, lingering fruity finish. The ice is fresh as you inhale, but not so strong as to upset the balance of flavours.

Watermelon – This is a super sweet, floral watermelon, with a decent dash of ice to keep things interesting. If you like watermelon disposables, this is a strong contender. Personally, it is one of my least favourite flavours, but I know there are lots of fans, and I am sure nobody will be disappointed here.

Kiwi Passionfruit Guava – Another classic disposable flavour, and this is a really great good version. You can clearly taste each fruit, and each also brings a variety of textures. It is another flavour that usually I am not so keen on as it can be a bit muddy and non-descript, but I have to say, this one is a cracker.

Banana Ice – I am really glad I took this bundle as I know Stephen would be going green at the thought of this flavour. Luckily I love a good banana vape. This is a super intense, with a huge sweet hit, more of a foam banana flavour. I could almost feel the sugar rush coming on! There is a warmth to the flavour too, but this is tempered by the light sprinkling of ice. This is a massive flavour, but I can see it splitting opinion.

Final Thoughts

This is everything we love about Elf Bar vapes but in a future proof format bringing convenience and flavour to the masses. If you have been concerned whether you’d still be able to get that familiar experience after the disposable ban, you can breathe a sigh of relief as this has been a seamless experience. The Elf Bar 600 prefilled is very simple to use to with only one extra step between unwrapping and vaping, and you won’t find your house full of old vapes. Really, I think this release will put a lot of anxious minds at rest.

If you would like to pick up the Elf Bar 600 Prefilled kit up, Head over to the good chaps at TECC. The base kit which comes with one pod, is yours for £5.99, and double packs of the pods come it at the same price. Here’s to the future of vaping!
