The Gas Mods G.R.1 is one of the latest affordable bottom feed ready rebuildable dripping atomisers to hit the market recently, aimed at vapers who prefer a tighter, and more flavoursome draw!

In order to maximise the flavour performance from the G.R.1, Gas Mods have designed an airflow system whereby the air is drawn in from two slots, and funnelled through to the coil via interchangeable slanted jet funnels! It’s certainly an interesting system, and one I’ve not experienced before...

Design and Build Quality

The Gas Mods G.R.1 is a small, low profile RDA with a 22mm width and a tiny 21mm height! It boasts very simple and elegant looks, with no gaudy logos or text emblazoned on the top cap.

POM is used to manufacture the top cap, and this material was chosen for its heat resistant properties. Rotating the top cap will allow you to adjust the airflow, and the POM drip tip at the top is removable. The top cap itself feels a bit lightweight and not particularly robust, however it has stood up well to use.

The O-rings on the deck hold the top cap firmly in place, however it’s still easy to remove the top cap when needed. At the base of the G.R.1 is a gold plated squonking pin, which can be removed and replaced easily with the included 510 pin if you don’t wish to use it on a squonking mod.

Building the Gas Mods GR1

A single coil build deck is used here, with two posts on opposite sides. Each post contains a small post hole- you aren’t going to fit huge Clapton coils in here, with a short grub screw in each.

A small notch at each end of the deck allows you to place your coiling rod in, and ensure your coil is mounted centrally on the deck. The airflow funnels will hit your coil from underneath, to maximise flavour. It’s a very simple deck to build on, and quick to build too!

Airflow

One of the more unique airflow systems I’ve seen recently is found on the Gas Mods G.R.1, there are two large airflow slots at either side and the airflow is drawn through these, and funnelled to your coil through two jet styled funnels. As standard, the pre-installed funnels offer a tighter draw, however if you prefer a more open draw you can install the more wide open funnels included in the spares kit.

Performance

With its low profile design and tight airflow, the Gas Mods G.R.1 is an atomiser built for flavour, and it does this really well! I get a warm, condensed vape packed with plenty of flavour, and a very enjoyable, smooth draw.

It offers a genuine mouth to lung and restricted lung hit, making it a versatile RDA, and a surprisingly decent level of vapour too when using low resistance builds!

An impressive aspect of the Gas Mods G.R.1 is that it rarely oversquonks resulting in juice leaks, even though it doesn’t have the deepest juice well. I do find that I need to give my bottle a squeeze every three to four puffs, but I was really happy that I rarely experienced any leakage!

Conclusion

This is a great RDA to look at if you are after a cheap, low profile squonk-ready RDA with an easy to use build deck. The tight draw produces some excellent flavour results, making this atty really lunch above it’s weight!
