Augvape Druga 2 rda
Augvape asked if I’d be interested in trying out the Druga 2 rda. Having never tried the original Druga, which was released all the way back in 2017, and wanting to get away from the constant merry go round of pods, I jumped at the chance!
The Augvape Druga 2 rda comes in a small, brightly coloured box with a sticker on the front which denotes the colour supplied. Mine is the “matt gunmetal” finish, but it’s also available in “stainless steel”, “aluminium red” and “matt black”. On the back of the box is a list of contents and a scratch ‘n’ sniff authenticity code. When you lift the lid, you are greeted with a warranty card and a second card detailing the specifications and information about the updated “clamp snap system”, under that you’ll find the Druga 2 rda and a bag with spares and a squonk pin.
Augvape are touting the updated “Clamp snap system” (CSS) on the dual post deck as one of the major updates over the original Druga rda alongside the new airflow design which gives a much more flexible airflow, so I’ll be interested to see how these perform in practice.
The design is a standard four piece rda style with a build deck, outer barrel, airflow control and drip tip all wrapped up in a neat 24mm package. The deck has the updated clamp snap system which is a classic shared two post design. The posts are knurled to aid grip whilst installing or removing coils, in practice you’ll still need a screwdriver for that final tightening though. The posts have an 18K gold plating for increased conductivity, this has been applied with a PVD process which Augvape say should be more durable.
The top cap has hard locks left and right which both aid in screwing the deck on or off a mod and aligning the airflow over the centre of your coils. The airflow has been changed from the cyclops style slits on the original Druga to six holes on each side. The top cap/airflow adjuster has some light doming inside and allows bags of variability, from a single hole to just the bottommost row, or full open depending on your chosen style. It’s all nice and smooth with no turbulence either.
The supplied drip tip is quite short but I’ve found it comfortable in use. It’s a standard 810 fitting so your favourite custom drip tips should all fit, although some very wide drip tips won’t look good due to the slightly raised platform. Most of my drip tips looked good though.
First things first though, the Druga 2 comes with a standard 510 fitted and I hate dripping so I quickly changed over to the supplied squonk pin before I tried the first build.
I know there are plenty of you out there who still favour simple round wire builds, so that’s what I tried first. There’s quite a wide distance between the two posts (min 5mm/max 14mm), so I found a spaced build worked best. The clamping system worked well with no clipping of the wires etc. This ohm’d out at 0.3, and with just the bottom three airflow holes, this performed surprisingly well at 65 watts.
Next up I went with a chunkier build with a pair of coilology multi-core fused claptons ohming out at 0.17. Flavour and vapour production were obviously improved and I found my sweet spot at 85W with the bottom three airflow holes.
The clamp system again worked well here, and this build is probably more what Augvape had in mind when designing the Druga 2. It should be noted though that I found that after a couple of days, my ohms suddenly started drifting all over the place. A quick examination of the deck revealed that the screws had loosened off so you might want to carry around a screwdriver along with your bottle of elquid just in case!

Conclusion
I’ve come away pleasantly surprised with the Augvape Druga 2. There’s a reason these simple shared dual post rda designs keep cropping up, they just work! Coil installation was a breeze thanks to the clamp snap system, but be aware that you may want to periodically tighten the clamps though as I found they tended to loosen up a bit in use. I’m also a chronic over squonker and thanks to the deep juice well, I haven’t managed to over squonk here once. I also tried dripping and this also worked well. I think the Druga 2 rda might just stay in my regular rotation for a while so it’s definitely worth considering if this is your sort of thing.
