One fo the things I really like about this product is the presentation. The Tricktank Pro RDTA comes packaged in a massively oversized box but the reason for this is the fact that everything is nicely put inside a useful zip up pouch. The tank, spare glass tube and two pre-made coils are held securely in the foam inlay and all of the spares and pre-cut cotton wicking strips are inside an aluminium box which has a press fit lid. It certainly all looks great but it does lack for one vital accessory namely a flathead screwdriver which wasn’t a big deal to be honest but it did seem a shame not to include it given the high quality of the overall package.

VGOD Tricktank Pro RDTA styling and build quality

The Tricktank Pro despite being classed as a RDTA (Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomizer) is essentially a Genesis style tank which has the deck positioned at the top with a reservoir of juice located beneath it. When your coils are fitted the cotton is pushed down through the four wicking holes about half way down the tank and the juice is drawn upward to the coil. Due to this arrangement, and like many other Genesis tanks, you will have to periodically tilt the tank to make sure the wicks remain saturated.

The Electronic Cigarette Company

The machining of the Tricktank Pro is excellent with no sharp edges to be found and the styling is very clean and streamlined with only a single neat “VGOD” logo engraved on the atomizer. The atomizer measures 24mm in diameter so it may overhang a little on some mods. The O-rings seem to be of a decent quality and the package does include spares should they ever start to degrade. Included with the tank is a wide bore Delrin drip tip but it does not use a standard 510 connector so you won’t be able to swap it with a smaller one from your collection. Nevertheless it does feel very comfortable to use and the Delrin material will minimise the amount of heat that reaches your lips.

The glass tube is reasonably thick but you do need to unscrew the centre post 510 pin to clean it. The package includes a spare glass tube should you ever accidentally smash it. The 510 pin is gold-plated copper giving excellent conductivity. The deck uses the very popular “Velocity” style configuration and has two posts with each have two holes apiece. The holes are 4mm in diameter which means you can easily use thicker wire types and since there is plenty of space on the deck you can also make your coils much larger in diameter if you wish.

Each side of the deck has two large air holes which you position your coils directly over. The Tricktank Pro description suggests it can be used with a single coil and while this is true in terms of setting up the build there is no plug for the airflow hole on the opposite side and since the airflow itself is non-adjustable I would be hesitant to suggest that you use it in anything other than dual coil mode. Finally the tank has a 4ml juice capacity which should be more than sufficient for typical users.

Airflow

The Tricktank Pro has two large horizontal slots and four large air holes in the deck so it certainly is not short of airflow. The airflow is fixed and cannot be adjusted so if you don’t like full on airy vapes then this product is not for you! The draw itself is extremely open and you can keep inhaling for as long as your lungs can keep up.

Ease of build

I made the decision not to make use of the included pre-made Clapton coils since I knew this atomizer would be going into a competition so instead I made two coils of my own using 26 gauge Kanthal, ten wraps apiece around a 3mm screwdriver. The final Resistance was about 0.50hm. Fitting the coils was very easy due to the roomy deck. The screws work really well and hold the wire securely. It can be ever so slightly awkward to tighten up the lower set of screws since the rim of the deck tends to get in the way a little. Wicking is straightforward and I made use of two of the nicely pre-cut strips included in the box. For the coil diameter I was using I did find that I needed to trim them down a little to make it easy to fit through the coils and into the fill holes. Ideally your wicks need to be positioned about halfway down the glass tank and I found an Allen Key to be very useful in pushing down the wick.

Once this was done I saturated the wicks with some Ronin Vapes Dojo Vanilla. Filling is a little tricky since there is a single fill hole located on the side of the tank and ideally you need a bottle with a small nozzle and not a huge 60ml dropper bottle like what I was using. It is important that you fill the tank slowly because otherwise the pressure will force the liquid out of the hole as you are filling.

How does it vape?

Since the VGOD Tricktank Pro is a Genesis style tank you do need to wait a little longer for the wikcing to fully saturate or you will just taste cotton for your first few vapes. Once fully saturated the Tricktank Pro offers an absolutely stellar quality of vape with very rich, highly distinct flavour where you can even pick out individual notes in the juice!

The cloud production is also phenomenal and it really does put out huge amounts of vapour. If you have ever seen one of those old World War II movies where a tank or artillery piece fires and there is a big huge plume of smoke left behind that is pretty much what it looks like when vaping the Tricktank albeit at a smaller scale. Seriously cloud chasing fans will truly love this and probably get hours of fun making creating vapour rings and other shenanigans!

Even though the very open airflow is completely fixed I never felt that it reduced the flavour of the juice I was using but it might have been nice to make it fully adjustable just so single coil users could get in on the fun. Strangely enough the amount of juice that gets vaped off seems quite reasonable and it took me a while to drain the tank when vaping at 40 watts. I think in some ways this is due to how well the cotton retains the liquid. As I mentioned earlier you do have to occasionally tilt the tank it between hits to make sure the cotton stays saturated.

One thing I should point out is that this thing hits hard and my typical 6mg juice seemed more like I was vaping 12mg because after a very short amount of time I was literally as high as a kite and my head was buzzing. Sadly all these mouth to lung tanks that I frequently use these days has made me into a lightweight so I had to take a break from the insane vape that this tank offers for a bit but despite that I can’t see anyone being disappointed by the the Tricktank Pro at all!

Conclusion

In my opinion the VGOD Tricktank Pro is a superb Genesis style atomizer that offers an excellent highly flavoursome vape with an obscene amount of cloud production beautifully packaged in a convenient carrying case that is loaded with spares. If massive cloud production and top notch flavour is what you are after then this product will certainly be well worth picking up!
