VOOPOO have very kindly sent over the Vinci pod kit to test out for review. VOOPOO always come up with the goods and have been very consistent over the years, so let's take a closer look and see how this one stacks up.
Key Features:
- 800mAh Built-in Battery
- 0.8Ω pod with 15W steady output
- Adjustable Airflow (side slider)
- Side Fill
- SSS Leak-Resistant Technology
- Auto Draw activation only
- Available in seven colours
In the box
Opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the look of this little kit, the colours are a wonderful mix of pastels which is unusual. I was not impressed that they only included one pod though…tut tut Voopoo! The kit comes the usual USB-C cable and manual, plus you get a variety of panel stickers. Nice touch, but I don’t think I will use them as I love the way mine looks as it is.
The Device
The device is made from zinc alloy, it's small but has a nice weight and feels great in my hand. I love that instead of having the usual little LED light, they have used the GENE branding logo as the LED indicator, it looks cool and is different to the norm, BIG thumbs up! On the side, you have the airflow slider. The charging port is on the base. On the back, you have the Voopoo logo and the front has the word Vinci. The Airflow slider works well but it’s a little stiff initially, it does ease up over time. The LED Light determines the battery level and lights up in use and whilst charging. It will flash whilst charging and stay solid green once fully charged. Charging takes around 40 mins. It uses the normal green, blue and red system which should be familiar to most vapers by now.
The pod is a made from PCTG. They are closed pods so you cannot replace the coils. Inside is 0.8ohm mesh coil. You have a side silicone bung with a decent size fill hole. On the bung, it says the ohms and has a little arrow so you know which part to pull open. The pod is nice and clear and it fits snuggly in the device. The mouthpiece is comfortable, it's rounded off and it isn’t too thick.
In use
I, of course, filled it with 10mg nic salts. I chose my trusty Juice Head Strawberry Kiwi e-liquid. WOW! The flavour is superb on this! For me, I tended to keep the airflow fully open which I would say is a 4 on the DD-Drawometer scale. Fully closed, it’s a 1, very tight but still a nice, tasty draw. So 100%, this is an MTL device, it’s a little too restrictive for anything else. There is another tiny little air hole on the other side so if you close the slider, you still get a tiny bit of air into the pod.
I have been using this with the same pod for over three weeks now and it's still going strong. I have had no issues at all, no dry hits, no leaking, no wicking issues….happy days!
Pros
- Airflow adjustment
- Zero leaks
- Decent battery
- Overall quality - looks gorgeous
- Very good flavour
- Excellent coil life
Niggles
- The fill bung – Feels a little flimsy, a hinge or a top fill would have been better
- Only includes one pod – not ideal at all. In my opinion, you should always get two just in case of a quality issue or user error, especially for first timers
- I have an issue with the name, when searching online you get a big selection of kits as many are called the VINCI. In my opinion, they could have done with adding something else to the VINCI name as it will, and has, caused confusion, especially when looking for replacement pods as it’s so similar to the AIR
DeeDee’s scoring: 9/10
Ease of use: 9/10
Flavour: 9/10
Design/Quality: 9/10
Conclusion
The VOOPOO Vinci is a very good pod kit. It is, in my opinion, very much an MTL device and offers a variety of MTL draws. This would suit any MTL vaper, a newbie or oldie! You can get a RDTL draw, but it is VERY tight.
Thanks to VOOPOO for allowing me to test this out!
