The Easter bunny arrived early at my house courtesy of a surprise delivery from VOOPOO with their new Argus G3 mini pod kit, the more compact budget oriented version of the Argus G3 I took a look at a few weeks ago. Look isn’t he cute!
Specifications
- 70.8 x 25.6 x 13.7 mm (without a pod)
- 42.8 grams
- Output 5~30 watts
- Internal 1350mAh battery / USB-C charging
- Updated Argus V2 pod included (2ml/3ml)
- Compatible with the full range of Argus pods

The Argus G3 mini is available in a whopping nine colours so you should have no difficulty selecting one to suit your tastes. I was sent the “Sky Blue” variant which is a pale powdery blue with a slight purple hue under certain lighting conditions with a polished band running around the middle highlighting the position of the LED indicator on the front.
Inside the box you’ll find the Argus G3 mini in your chosen colour with a 0.7ohm Argus V2 pod installed (2ml/3ml depending on your region), a USB-C charge cable, and a smattering of paperwork. Whilst I appreciate the USB charging cable, I would have rather seen a second pod in its place instead but as this is likely to fall into the ultra-budget category, that probably wasn’t possible at the price point.

The main body of the Argus G3 mini is constructed from aluminium alloy which combined with its compact form factor makes this an absolute featherweight and perfect for slipping into a shirt pocket. The sleek exterior is broken up by the polished band highlighting the status LED and a diamond cut pattern running down either side of the body. I really like the diamond cut sides as these add a nice textured finish to the body whilst also improving grip.
This is a super simple device with no buttons, menus, or screens to worry about and no adjustable airflow, simply insert a pod and inhale. This of course makes it perfect for beginners or someone swapping over from disposables with the impending ban looming here in the U.K. As always with VOOPOO devices, the auto draw function has performed flawlessly, and I would say that they’ve judged the amount of airflow perfectly here.

The white LED indicator turns red with a low battery at which point you’ll want to make use of the USB-C charge port located along one of the sides. This hit a peak charge rate of 0.67amps, so it isn’t going to win any awards in the rapid charging category taking a rather leisurely 1 hour and 52 minutes to fully charge. My recorded usable capacity topped out at 1109mAh which is once again short of the quoted 1350mAh but is more than enough to get you through a full day's use even for a heavy vaper.

The pod is of course located in the recess at the top of the Argus G3 mini and is held firmly in place by magnets. You only get the one 0.7ohm pod included in the kit, but this is one of the new iCosm code 2.0 pods with a larger coil head and VOOPOO’s “golden cotton” for enhanced durability. The Argus pods have always been one of my favourite pods but these new pods really do last, the pod I used with the Argus G3 lasted for three weeks with 3700 hits recorded but I’d also been using the pod in my ancient Argus P2 as well so I’m guessing the total number of hits was closer to 4500 or more, and this latest pod is also still going strong three weeks in.
The only criticism I would have with these revised Argus V2 pods is that the larger coil head does make them more difficult to fill with air frequently getting trapped under the coil which often takes quite a while to clear. Otherwise you still get the same fantastic flavour and leak free experience that the Argus pods have always given in the past.

Conclusion
The lack of any airflow adjustment, screens, buttons, or fiddly menus mean that it doesn’t get any simpler to use the Argus G3 mini, simply pop in an Argus V2 pod and take a draw (remembering of course to fill it first!). As always, the auto draw system works flawlessly which I’ve come to expect from VOOPOO kits so this makes it an ideal starter kit for the first time vaper or someone making the switch over from disposables.
Many thanks to VOOPOO for sending the Argus G3 mini kit over for review.

- Simple to use
- Sleek, lightweight design
- Long lasting pods
- The updated Argus V2 pods are sometimes frustrating to fill

Reviewer at POTVI was a twenty a day smoker for 25 years and like most smokers I was always going to quit "next week". Having hit my mid forties and having the usual smokers cough and difficulty with anything more than moderate exercise it was obviously time to give up the cancer sticks. I bought my first e-cigarette in 2013 when they were expensive, difficult to find and quite frankly... crap. I used it for about a week then went back to the roll ups, mark up another failed quit attempt. The fact that I had just changed jobs and was under quite a lot of stress probably didn't help. Move on to 2016 and whilst I was browsing eBay I noticed that one of the suggested items that would occasionally pop up was for a cheap e-cigarette. It looked similar to the one I'd bought 3 years earlier but it was only £5 (about 8 times cheaper than before) so I decided to give it another go on a whim. Once the kit arrived I managed to gradually replace the cigarettes with my new kit over a two month period and got into watching YouTube reviews for newer kit. My cheap and cheerful kit was replaced by a more upmarket affair, and being a noob I made a mistake once it arrived... I put in the supplied direct lung coil, this was of course a complete revelation and I haven't touched a cigarette since. Oh and I no longer spend the first five minutes of every day having a coughing fit either.
