Organisers have stated that they are delighted to announce that the international 8th Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction by the International Association on Smoking Control and Harm Reduction (SCOHRE) will take place at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, Athens, Greece, from September 30th to October 1st, 2025. They are inviting you to join from wherever you are located “and participate in the discussion on tobacco control, smoking cessation, novel tobacco products, regulatory issues and developments”.
The organisers of the No Smoke Summit say they aim to reach and hopefully exceed the 250 attendees, spanning thirty countries, who participated in last year’s event.
They state: “We are delighted to announce that the platform for registration and abstract submission to the 8th Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction is live! Find out the details and secure your participation in the Summit in Athens, on September 30th and October 1st, 2025.
“The registration fee is unique for the entire registration period—just like last year. Scientists, healthcare professionals, and students register free of charge.”
Registration can be completed on this webpage. Registration entitles all attendees to all onsite sessions, coffee breaks, light lunches, a programme/abstract book, and a certificate of participation if required.
Anyone seeking to submit an abstract should do so online by July 21st, 2025. Approved abstracts will be presented as oral presentations or e-Posters at the event. The Abstracts section of SCOHRE’s website provides further details.

Organisers state: “The scientific Summit aims to attract top researchers, clinicians, and scientists from diverse fields, from all over the world, to present and discuss their work and participate in a constructive dialogue to help come up with a better approach to the global burden of smoking.
“SCOHRE recognize that harm reduction could make the lives of people better and invite scientists from multiple fields to present basic research and clinical evidence, thus contributing to the discussion that leads to ‘evidence-based policymaking’ and fights misinformation.
“In previous Summits it was established that, during the last 30 years, the prevalence of smoking has decreased steadily around the globe. However, as populations have grown, the total number of smokers has increased. There is increasing interest in Tobacco Harm Reduction as a tool to reduce the detrimental consequences of cigarette smoking to the human population of the planet. However, more data is needed for politicians and public health regulators to make informed decisions.”
This year, the Summit’s scientific programme will include plenary and keynote lectures on the following specific topics:
- Toxicology and aerosol chemistry
- Biomarkers’ evaluation in animal or human studies
- Preclinical evaluation
- Epidemiology & Social Issues
- Clinical Assessment and Harm Reduction
- Public Health
- Legal & Regulatory issues
- Bioethics
- Innovation & Novel Products
- Smoking cessation
- Educational issues in adolescence
The Organising Committee includes notable vape experts such as Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos, Senior Researcher at the University of Patras, and David Sweanor, Chair of the Advisory Board at the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Health Law.
The Scientific Committee includes such luminaries as Karl Erik Lund, Karl Fagerström, and Konstantinos Poulas.
