New data from Vape Superstore reveals a 46% surge in sales of nicotine-free e-liquids over the past six months, alongside a 75% increase in Google searches for nicotine-free vapes in the last three months. The company tells us this trend highlights a growing shift towards nicotine-free vaping as more consumers seek to reduce or eliminate nicotine from their lifestyle.

Vape Superstore, a leading vape retailer, has observed a significant shift in consumer habits, with a growing appetite for nicotine-free vaping options:

  • Vape Superstore recorded a 46% increase in sales of 10ml nicotine-free e-liquids over the last six months
  • Google search volumes for some leading nicotine-free vapes increased by 75% over the last three months

This increase in demand for nicotine-free alternatives indicates a rising trend among vapers looking to reduce or eliminate nicotine consumption,” the company states.

Vape Superstore believes that many vapers are actively looking to cut down their nicotine intake while still enjoying the flavours and rituals of vaping. With growing awareness of the potential benefits of reducing nicotine dependence, more consumers appear to be opting for 0mg e-liquids and disposables as part of their lifestyle choices – something they will not be able to do after the single-use ban.

The company says that nicotine-free vapes also appeal to social vapers who enjoy the sensory experience of vaping without the addictive properties of nicotine.

This shift is being driven by both seasoned vapers transitioning away from nicotine and newcomers who are seeking a smoke-free alternative without the reliance on nicotine,” Vape Superstore adds.

Switching to vaping removes the majority of the harm received from tobacco smoke. Whilst nicotine is not carcinogenic, eliminating it can improve mood and sleep, and users will no longer be dependent on something.”

Vape Superstore says switching to nicotine-free vapes offers several advantages, including:

  • Reduced Dependency – Eliminating nicotine removes the risk of addiction while still allowing vapers to enjoy their preferred flavours and devices.
  • Greater Flexibility – Nicotine-free vapes can be used more casually, making them an appealing option for social settings.
  • Smoother Vaping Experience – Without nicotine, e-liquids often provide a smoother inhale and less throat hit, which can be preferable for some users.

The company advises vapers considering making the switch to nicotine-free vaping to transition gradually:

  1. Gradually reduce your nicotine strength from 20mg all the way down to a 3mg nicotine strength using premixed vape juice bottles
  2. Use shortfills and nic shots to lower the strength even further to 1.5mg and lower
  3. When you feel ready, switch to zero nicotine e-liquid
  4. If your cravings are still too strong, then go back to Step 2

Commenting on the findings, David Phillips from Vape Superstore said: “The significant increase in sales of nicotine-free e-liquids and the surge in online searches for these products reflect a clear shift in consumer preferences. More vapers are seeking to enjoy the sensory experience of vaping without nicotine, indicating a move towards healthier lifestyle choices.

“The data shows that more consumers are taking control of their vaping habits, whether it's to reduce dependence on nicotine or simply enjoy vaping without it. At Vape Superstore, we’re seeing a strong shift towards 0mg options, and we expect this trend to continue as awareness around nicotine-free alternatives grows.

“With the upcoming disposable vape ban in the UK, we anticipate even more vapers will explore nicotine-free options as they reconsider their vaping habits. Many disposable users may transition to refillable devices and e-liquids, and we’re already seeing increased interest in 0mg alternatives as part of this shift.”
