New Kid on the Recycling Block

Focus on the disposable sector continues to intensify, but new entrant Blo Bar hopes to assuage concerns with its original approach to a recycling scheme

Focus on the disposable sector continues to intensify, but new entrant Blo Bar hopes to assuage concerns with its original approach to a recycling scheme. The newly formed brand “With A Difference” claims it can tackle the recognised problems that come with single-use vape products with the launch of its initiative.

New to the market, Blo Bar was launched in 2022 by DB Brands following an investment of over £1 million.

The company says: “After entering into the fast-growing and increasingly in-demand disposable vape market, [we] were focused on standing out from the crowd and positioning [ourselves] as a brand who would be able to create genuine and positive change - something deemed a challenge in a space often criticised for its impact on the environment.”

With this in mind, Blo Bar recently launched its very own Disposable Vape Recycling Scheme, where participants and vape bar consumers can trade ten of their used vapes for a brand new Blo Bar vape.

The company will accept any disposable vape product manufactured by other companies towards the free replacement.

The used vapes collected by Blo Bar are then disposed of correctly in a recycling drum, so that the lithium batteries can be reused, and other materials can be recycled appropriately.

Blo Bar says its “stylish, metallic-looking devices provide 600 puffs and can be bought both individually and in bundles. The Blo Bar 600 range offers customers up to 20 different flavours to choose from to suit all types of taste palettes.

In order to further establish their name within the industry, Blo Bar has recently been announced as sponsors of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors and Women in Wholesale (FWD), as well as Barcode Festival 2022 and 2023.

A spokesperson from Blo Bar says, “As a new brand entering the competitive disposable vape industry, we saw a gap in the market for a vape brand with a difference.

“We are all too familiar with the environmental issues surrounding the disposal of single-use vapes. We understand the lack of knowledge on how to correctly recycle vapes, and that throwing vapes directly into the bin is a much more convenient option than taking each vape to a recycling centre.

“But as a business that sells such products, we accept that the responsibility of creating awareness and highlighting the importance of correctly recycling disposable vapes lies with us. So, rather than contributing to the problem, our goal is to find a solution that seeks to address it, whilst still providing customers with a disposable option as and when it suits their lifestyles.

“That’s why, we developed the Disposable Vape Recycling Scheme. We have succeeded in making the process as simple and convenient as possible for vape users - whilst also offering an incentive for taking part. By offering free delivery of the used disposable vapes, as well as a brand new vape in return, we’re proud to help encourage vapers to recycle, at no expense of their own.

“Although we cannot tackle the total amount of vapes going into landfill across the UK as a whole, we can still create a difference by protecting the planet; 10 disposable vapes at a time.”
