So....... It was a usual sort of evening here, nothing out of the ordinary............. Until.............. We had done the washing up and put everything away. I was making drinks and herself pottered off to the loo. Somehow.......... Don't ask, she dropped her phone down the loo :(
Got it out straightaway and dried it with kitchen towel and got it into a container full of rice. This took all of a minute, if that.
Googled what to do next and discovered that the phone needed to be switched off, it won't. :(
It's staying in the rice for another 48 hrs in the forlorn hope that it will resuscitate, but given that we can't turn it off, I am expecting the worse. I am "hoping" that we can claim on our insurance for accidental damage, but have to confirm with them first.

Any other tips or tricks that we need to be doing Folks?

It's an iPhone 6 by the way. Less than 6 months old, which is a bit galling but there we go :(

Silica works a treat. Failing that the anti damp crystals for moisture.

You better off taking it out of the rice and just leaving it on the side in a well ventilated room , rice will not suck moisture out of the inside of the phone.
Take your SIM , memory cards out and leave the ports open , give it a good shake to try and get any water out .

Try sucking all the moisture out using a vacuum cleaner

I have used the rice technique before. But I would put is somewhere warm like an airing cupboard while in the rice and leave for 48 hours

Must be a woman thing. If that's multi tasking then you can keep it.
    Good luck though.
