TTS 18650 VV mod.

Introduction

I bought this from the maker just on the cusp of the demise of the old UKVapers site. I paid £50 including P&P

The finish is a carbon fibre wrap and it is a neat one – it’s smooth to the touch between the carbon fibre and the LEDs. The LED is big – good proportions for the device – and very clear. The LEDs in modern blue compliment the modern shape and finish well. It’s a 3 digit display – 4.65 volts anyone? Or would you like 4.71?

The electrical specification is good – it has overload and overheat protection as well as VV from 3.26 to 6 volts.

The function of a battery is to deliver power – and whoooo this so does – up to 10 amps if so desired and up to 6 volts. Yup, that’s not a typo, 10 amps. It outperforms my Lavatube by some margin here - where the Lavatube may hesitate before it delivers, this is like a steam train – Mallard – it just piles it out without hesitation – clouds of vapour. The choice of what I stick on top of the 510 connector is, in practice, not limited by resistance, voltage and power combinations – 10 amps sees to this. It also uses 2 18650’s and this means it just goes on delivering for days with AW batteries.

It is supremely comfortable to use.

Niggles

My biggest niggle is – there’s no ‘off’ switch. The vape button is big and protrusive, so in a pocket, the scope to inadvertently fire up is big. This is a shame as it limits the device to home use. I would be happy to slip this into an overcoat pocket on a brisk and sunny winter day, to go frolicking in the Quantocks with some lovely woman; if I had a lovely woman, and if there was an off button.

I also don’t like the trimmer knob used to adjust the voltage – it seems a bit long and vulnerable – it probably isn’t as vulnerable as I think it is. But I think my main dislike is aesthetic. The knob is olde worlde - something from a recess in the back of a vintage 1960s Fender amp; every time I adjust the voltage I half expect Hank Marvin to jump out from somewhere and play Apache. Something shorter and funkier would compliment the modern look of the rest of the device.

The battery box – this slides up to change batteries (an infrequent event) and is fine – it’s a neat bit of packaging, but it slides up further than this and some of the electronics get exposed. Useful if something goes wrong, but there are some miniscule wires near the surface – again – probably my paranoia and I am tempted to drip some candle wax in to protect them. Do you detect some neurosis creeping in here?

In use

The shape is fantastically comfortable in my small male hands – much nicer and more natural than anything else I vape on and the fire button is very well placed – great design. It’s about a cm shorter than a Lavatube I and a little wider than two of them.

I am a boat dweller and where my Lavatube or Egos will topple and/or roll when there is movement – this has a decent base and stands up confidently.

Adjusting voltage by twiddling the knob I thought would be fiddly – it’s not – its easier and less fiddly than the Lavatube. It is in fact a breeze.

The recessed 510 connector on the top – I love it – and the offset position makes for a comfortable vape – everything’s in the right place – though I wonder if a left hander would find it as pleasing. The recessing adds to the look.

Since I got this, the Lavatube has taken second place indoors: hardly used. The TTS has become the tool I use for my main vape – which is a great testimony. It’s also going to let me try some low resistance cartomizers on my Puff Daddy – out of range of the Lavatube’s power delivery at the voltages I want to test.

Value for Money?

£50 inc P&P stacks up really well against a Lavatube – which with p&p, is going to be about £45 for the latest one. This is a genuine Mod, a great one and price wise superb value. A bargain in fact. If I were to buy another ‘big battery' VV device for indoor use – I’d prefer this to the Lavatube any day.

frolicking in the Quantocks
..is that legal?

My juno (by stig) isn't dissimilar..similar form factor, though twin 18350..and it has an off switch..though tbh these big buggery mods are best left for home use anyway IMO

Excellent review Bryan

I have StiG's version of this, but I want one of these too... I better get to saving pennies!

Styl3r's done a wonderful job on this!

Excellent review as always Iwan! Thank you so much for taking the time to do these and to help promote excellent quality products by our very own!

This is still going strong, still performing as it was on day 1 and is one of my most frequently used bits of kit at home. I understand that there is a VII (either our or on the way) with an on off switch. This has proven very usable and durable in use at home. I would be confident to take it out (in a large coat pocket) if it had an on off switch.

these look top class
i've been on and off using my e-cigarette for a bit and wanna try this vv thing

would these be a good place to start? cheers

I would start with a Vamos if I was starting now - it will do just about everything and is a mass market device and a bit cheaper - this (the TTS) is simpler and offers a hell of a lot more power and battery life.

The TTS is a specialist Mod - if you don't like or want something that the Vamos offers you'll know for your second VV device. I didn't think I wanted or needed a check atomizer feature (on my IMotion) it is handy and things go on there first for a check before being shifted elsewhere - it has meant I can put my mulitmeter away. But if I was only using Vivi Tanks or Joye atomizers - it would be a feature I didn't need.

Constant wattage (or VW as it is described) is something I have yet to have on a device - do I 'need' t probably not - my volts go up and down during my day - first thing in the morning I want them low and want them different for differing devices and flavour. But the Vamos offers this too - so you get to try it. It's a pretty cheap way of finding out what you like / need / use.
