Imist – The King Of Cool

Biansi Imist Vs Biansi Imist 2

I bought both these with my hard earned from www.bargainvapour.com who are Imist specialists.

Background. I am a big fan of the Imist, which has become my standard piece of vaping kit for El Toro Puros.

BUILD

These are tank atomizers. Both are rewickable and both have replaceable atomizers. Build quality is high – of the mass market kit I have, these are the best quality. There’s some lovely detailing, like the silicone washer on the atomisers that provides a good seal. Everything glides together, the finish is deep and lustrous. The tanks are a firm push – fit, easy to fill and I have yet to see any hint of a leak. These are engineering quality.

Differences.

The Imist 2 is blue, the Imist gunmetal in the pics. The tanks are identical. The cone is much longer on the Imist 2 and the atomizer head, which is identical length to the Imist, has a shoulder on it and fits inside the cone. I fail to see the benefit of this, maybe I am stupid, but rewicking looks easy on the Imist and a pain on the Imist 2 cone.

THE VAPE.

3.7 volts

Am going to cut to the chase here. The Imist at 3.7 volts provides a cool and airy vape – slightly annoyingly airy. The Imist 2 provides a cool vape at 3.7 volts, but – the airyness is gone and it’s really, really pleasant; there’s marginally more vapour too.

On the original Imist I seem to have to work to get a decent vapour and throat hit at 3.7 volts, on the Imist 2 this comes without having to think about it. Imist 2 has solved this problem at standard voltage. It’s one of the best. If you want a high quality tank atomizer system to use at standard voltages, that has replaceable atomizers (these are supposedly coming to market) the facility to re-wick and spare tanks, this has to be a great contender. In value for money terms, it is one of the best – it oozes quality, not juice. It looks good on an Ego too.

4.5 volts

I vape Puros at between 4.2 and 4.8 volts, depending on my mood and 4.5 is always my start point.

The Imist looses its airyness at these voltages and produces loads of great vapour, complex tastes and retains its coolness. This for me is important, I don’t like hot vapes. I love what this gets from Puros, the elements of a good quality cigar, smooth, creamy and with a range of great cigar tobacco tastes.

The Imist 2 doesn’t stack up quite so well; don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing ewwww about it at all, performance is respectable, but it’s a hotter vape and – the erstwhile airyness of the Imist on a draw, produces nice clouds of cool vapour; I had to draw a bit harder on the Imist 2 to get the same effect and some of the flavours were muted by the warmth (Imist 2 is slightly warm not hot, whereas the Imist is the king of cool).

4.9 volts

Imist 2 is getting too warm for my tastes. Original Imist? Is kicking out clouds of vapour, a great range of tastes, throat hit galore and remains a lovely cool vape. It’s my fave.

CONCLUSION

If you want to vape at standard voltages, the Imist 2 is a big improvement on the Imist. At higher voltages, the Imist wins.

In terms of value for money these are great – superb quality and replacement parts. They’re going to be a bit like Trigger’s broom (Only Fools & Horses fans will get this). I’d recommend either of these with confidence and no hesitation.

Son 1 is vaping Cigarrillos on one of these and a chocolate vape on another and is under the illusion that everything about them will last forever, unlike some of his previous vaping kit. They inspire that level of confidence. These and a Lavatube have enabled him to quit cigarettes.

Update

Update - Son 2 has started vaping and… his preferred vape? Puros on an original Imist. He’s tried direct dripping and – can’t be bothered – Puros tastes so good on the Imist and its warmer through an atty and to him tastes so marginally better it’s not worth the bother. I can see his point – he has a busy life is out a lot and can live without the faff.

I have just worked out how many Imists I have bought and how many I now possess – I am minus 3. Family eh?
