The Vaporesso Gen X Kit is the latest release from Vaporesso in the ever popular Gen range which i personally think they are milking a bit too much, too be honest theres not a whole of lot difference with this one so this is going to be short and sweet as there has been a ton of reviews on these mods already.
Available in Space Grey, Matte Gold, Sapphire Blue and Classic Black which is the one i was sent
The Gen X comes in a nice solid box with a picture of your chosen colour of mod on the front once the sleeve is removed and you have opened the box pull up the flap to reveal the contents which consists of the mod, tank with bubble glass and GT mesh coil already fitted, USB lead, a replacement straight glass tank, spare O-rings and drip tip, a GT mesh 4 coil all secured in place in a foam cut out tray, underneath this in a small cardboard wallet you have the warranty card instruction manual and a thin bit of black metal with vaporesso logo that says Gen X collectors edition on it.
The rest of the Gen range all come with the rubberised breathable coating making it nice and comfortable to hold in your hand whereas this one is constructed from aircraft grade aluminum and seems to be somewhat of a fingerprint magnet and always seems cold to the touch the body is nice and smooth the panels are curved so it fits in your hand nicely but not as comfortable as the rest of the range.
The Gen X has a power range of 5 -220 watts it still supports the outstanding AXON chip which is great, battery door removal is the same as the previous versions but instead of 2 magnets holding it in place vaporesso have opted to hide the magnets away under a plain aluminum cover which runs round the entire battery tray which has also done away with the AXON logo which has basically been moved to the inside of the removeable battery door, battery polarity is marked inside the sled but not very well its quite hard to see in low lighting, a ribbon to help with battery removal, the battery contact pins are spring loaded and with the 2 18650 batteries loaded in place and door back on there are no signs of rattle wiggle or movement. On the base of the device you will find the battery venting holes 18 in total.
Up the top is the centered 510 plate with spring loaded pin which is slightly raised to prevent tank scratch, so it will leave a tiny tiny gap with tank installed, having tried a few tanks on the mod most of them fitted without overhang but when i came to the mesh pro a 25mm tank the airflow ring overhung a tiny amount but showed no gap go figure.
The front face of the mod is exactly the same as all other versions with a nice sized fire button in a brass colour a 0.91-inch OLED Screen just below are the wattage up/menu/wattage down buttons, and the USB port, when you install the tank it will automatically identify the coil material and resistance ask if its a new or old load then it will scan before showing you the resistance, press up (+) button for new or down (-) button for old (existing setting).One thing to note is this device is missing is the ability to be locked preventing accidental firing or wattage adjustment.
Button Configureations and Modes
5 clicks of the fire button to power the mod on and off
3 clicks to lock and unlock the up, down and mode button
PUL = Pulse mode (default), continues boost flavour
ECO= Power Eco mode, to let you have longer battery life.
STC= Smart Temperature Control Mode, automatic recognize coil material, just one step to complete setting
DIY= DIY Mode, you can choose traditional VW, VV, VT, CCW, BP (bypass mode), SP (super player mode) from this section.
Options in DIY mode
VW - H /VW-N /VW-S , Variable Wattage mode - high/normal/soft, it will automatically select the adequate average wattage for your atomizer If you switch between different ohms resistance
VT - SS/VT-NI/VT-TI, Variable temperature control mode for Stainless Steel, Nickel, Titanium
VV - Variable Voltage mode, You can manually adjust the voltage to match the resistances of the coil the higher resistance of the coil the higher voltage it requires
CCW - Custom Curve Wattage mode, use the up and down buttons to customize the curve of wattage output line, move to the next bar with a quick press of the fire button, press the mode button to save and exit when finnished
BP - Bypass mode, Direct output voltage mode depends on battery level, supported coil resistance range: 0.05- 5ohm
SP - Super Player mode, for RDA`s RTA`s, resistance range from 0.03Ω to 5Ω
System Set - puff counter, brightness, flip screen, default, version
NRG-S Subohm tank
The original Gen was supplied with the SKRR-S Subohm tank the Gen X has the new NRG-S Subohm tank
The drip tip is a 510 fit with an 810 bore
The tank comes with a massive 8ml capacity bubbleglass or a 5ml straight glass and is pretty damm solid, to fill up locate the padlock and push to slide the top back it doesnt go all the way back just enough to reveal a nice sized kidney port fill hole which makes filling up nice and easy.
coils are screwfit and screw into the base and chimney section, airflow on this is via 2 large cyclops inlets which mirror each other when adjusted, adjustment is really nice and smooth on the airflow ring but with some resistance to it. Airflow itself is pretty good for a subohm tank not too noisy when fully open but when closed down it gives a really loud whistle, of the coils provided i much preffered the GT4 dual mesh over the GT single mesh as it gave much better flavour and didnt need as much power having said that the GT mesh still gave good flavour.There is plenty of coils to choose from as it is compatible with the entire range of GT coils from vaporesso 9 in total
