Glass was for the review versions. It explained the machining you commented on as Wotofo warned they would have some level of machining marks left behind as well as the clapton mesh being pre heated which caused it to deform when wicking. I've seen close up photos of retail versions that show very little or no machining & to be honest the 2 I recieved were very well finished.
The decorative ring on the drip tip. Wotofo were made aware before retail version was released so should be fixed & I haven't seen any comment in the various groups that have recieved retail versions.
