Doesn't really matter but a 50 metre roll is still very small in actual size. Will last you years.

The size is just the amount of wire (ie the length of wire that’s wrapped on the reel).

It’s really down to preference, I always use stainless steel as it is tasteless to me, others like kanthal. You could always buy a small reel of each.

The AWG is the guage for wire thickness, the larger the number the thinner the wire is.
I usually use 28awg kanthal for mtl, 5 wraps around 2.5mm jig is around 1.0ohm coil. 6 wraps for 1.2 ohm.
stainless steel has a lower resistance than kanthal so would need a thinner wire to get same resistance.
At the moment I have 1 mod set up for temp control with ss coil 28awg, 8 wraps, for a 0.7ohm coil.

Don't worry about it. Taking everything in when you start building can be a bit overwhelming.

So whilst I’m waiting for some wire and cotton, thought I’d have a play with the included prebuilt coils and included cotton. I’ve mounted it and put on my obs cube and it read to start with just over 1ohm. I then scraped it to remove dead spots (didn’t even know if this was required just seen others do it) and then the ohmd jumped up to 1.6. So I manipulated the coil a bit and now it’s down to 1.25. Any ideas why the big jump. See pics attached does it look ok? Should the coils be scrunched up together or should space them out? Thanks.

If the coil glows evenly then all is good. Spaced or non spaced is just a personal thing really.

Ok, so nothing to worry about with the ohms changing then? I’ve just put the cotton (first time ever and I think it’s ok?). Put some juice on and pulsed it and now it’s showing 1.34 ohm, so hopefully that will be ok?
