I know what you mean about the True crackle. I vape it in TC with 29awg nife30 wire and I don't wick tightly to avoid distorting the coil. Personally, I don't mind the crackle at all.

I use my fingernail to hold down/against (resistance) the first coil wrap when pulling the wick through. Works wonders. If I need to remove a too tight wick, i use scissors to cut off both ends and use tweezers to pull little bits at a time

I don't mind the crackle either. But if it crackles too much, it starts spitting.
