So I found a stick.
Definitely a hardwood and as I was surrounded by olive and cork trees I'm assuming it's one of the two.
Brought the stick home with the intention of making a pipe but I had no tools...
Off I go to the local hardware shop and come home with a Stanley knife and a 22mm spade bit.

Many many hours and thousands of chips later, I end up with this.

No forstner bit to finish the depth, no saw to cut it to length, no wire to solder it up so I put it away for back in Belgium.

Enthused by my first stick, I pick up another.
This time I have a saw!

Lovely wavey grain but as hard as hell.

Let's get whittling.
I knew this would happen sooner or later but both thumbs at the same time...
That takes next level stupidity.
Game over!

That put an end to whittling but this arrived today so I can progress when I have time

To be continued...

Looking good so far, very interested to see them finished, I have always fancied a pipe.
When they being released to the public [emoji6]

doing a proper job no pain no gain as they say ;) looks great so far
keeping my eyes peeled on this

Only problem is once he's got one he A) won't give it back and B) eats it !
I have most of the tools id need to make one actually.

I was kind of pleased I had no tools, the whittling was very therapeutic.

The bleeding less so.
