The bottom line is; unfortunately, it happens that many research studies draw conclusions that are beneficial to certain companies. I talked with the guys from https://papersowl.com/research-papers-for-sale about how studies are conducted. As they do research papers for sale, they said that you should always check the info you find. I stumbled upon so many questionable studies that I think you should be critical towards them, especially when the topic is important to a multi-billion dollar business.

Yes but that doesn't contradict what he wrote.

I'm a chemist and can confirm there's an awful lot of poorly conducted research studies out there. There's a myriad of reasons for that, some commercial in nature.

A straw man is basically putting words into someone's mouth. Example:

'A' said: "there's lot of bad research out there"
'B' said: "'A' said all research is rubbish"

'B' deployed a straw man. It's the most used logical fallacy in use.
