I don't know if this will help, Qorax flames his wire with a lighter. Think it makes it less springy.

I’ve seen him do it in his vids. I didn’t realise it stiffens it. Will give it a try

Certainly is. I always learn something as well.

I like the springiness, personally. It’s not too springy that the legs don’t sit where you set them, but springy enough that it pushes back nicely after you push it closed, making a perfectly spaced and nicely even coil.

I do that too. When I was making twisted wire, if I didn't do that first the fitted coil writhed like a snake as soon as I applied heat!

If you want a nice stiff straight stick... Ooh ahhh.

Stick it in a drill, grab the other end with pliers, pull the slack and spin the drill.

It'll pull the wire perfectly straight, makes building a coil perfect.

Hmm this coilology wire arrived today. It’s much better than the vandy stuff. But I think my usual 5 1/2 wraps at 2mm has too high resistance on the squeeze, for me to fairly compare it with my usual 28awg 316 I do on this one.

I’m not sure if I’m detecting a kind of burnt taste from it though.

It’s totally silent though, no sound at all. Quiet as a wee mouse, in the salix. I mistakenly thought I’d turned the squeeze off at the first puff from it!
