Thanks for the reply. So its a soft wood conifer. Ive had problems with rings splitting in the past. So, usually, make a point asking.

Its often fow to the time of year the tree was cut, especially with conifers.

Thanks, it turned out well for an old plank of wood,would have liked to do it in a metallic colour but couldn't get any in my town,at least its juice proof

I'm assuming sap content is higher in the growing season so the wood is less dense.
