Starting to get back into the swing of things again.
Had a play with a piece of Beech.
It’s a work in progress as I’m not happy with the shape yet.
But to give an idea.
The wood in question left over from a fire surround I put together.

The basic shape I’m looking for.

Have upgraded from a flappy bit to forsner drill bits. Far cleaner cuts.

Still needs a shed load of work to get it how I want it.

The top needs work still. Think I need to remake a new top as the 510 has 1 mm of overhang yuck.

Will update progress next week.
Thanks for looking.

Love to see a skilled craftsman at work. Watching with interest.

Couldn’t wait till next week.
That overhang did my head in. So after a bit of errrrm what shall I do I made another top and shaved 2 mm from the body of the mod.
Right royal pain in the butt.

Needed to be sanded down a couple of mil which took ages. I forgot how hard this wood is especially on a small piece. But happy it came out reasonable.

Couple of holes later and that nasty overhang is a thing of the past.

Now I know the button fits I have the joyous task of sanding everything to get a decent shape. Done by hand does take a bit of time but hey ho there you go.
